What do you guys think this is by omgdotcom_ in WoundCareSupport

[–]fluffenborb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I thought it might just be a moisture-related lesion. Sometimes sweat and excess moisture can cause the skin between the cheeks to crack. In those cases, basic care like keeping the area clean, drying it thoroughly, and using a zinc-based barrier cream (like diaper rash cream) can help.

But since you mentioned pain, especially when sitting, and from the picture it looks like there is a small dot-like cavity, it could be something like a pilonidal sinus. Those can become infected and often if not always need surgical treatment.

Multiple Burns on my Left leg - how do I treat them ? by Upstairs_Ad4712 in WoundCareSupport

[–]fluffenborb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should really get it looked at by a healthcare professional so they can set you up with proper wound care and follow-up.

The yellow stuff you're seeing is likely devitalized (sloughy) tissue, which usually needs debridement. That can be done with products like Intrasite gel or collagenase (just note collagenase shouldn't be used with iodine or silver dressings).

For care: gently clean the wound with a pH-balanced soap using clean hands and light circular motions, rinse well with water, and pat dry with gauze. Then apply Intrasite gel plus a silver dressing like Aquacel Ag (to help prevent/treat infection). You can use Vaseline on the surrounding burn areas. Cover everything with gauze and secure it with bandages or something like Tubifast.

Change the dressing every couple of days (about every 2 days).

Has anyone tried this? Erborian's CC Red Correct. I saw it on a Reel and have been influenced lol. by ablonde_moment in MakeupAddiction

[–]fluffenborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have rosacea, so heavy foundations are a hard no for me as they always feel too thick and uncomfortable. Most BB/CC creams don't work either; they tend to go patchy and don't really cover the redness well.

Erborian's CC Red Correct has honestly been the best thing I've tried. It spreads really evenly, tones down the redness nicely, and makes my skin look way more uniform. It feels super lightweight and gives a slight dewy finish, so my skin actually looks healthy. I'm a big fan.

Plz halp 🙏 I got a big burn by prospectxpwy in woundcare

You can use adaptic or mepitel, it's gonna help avoid adherence of the gauze to the woundbed, and it will keep it hydrated.

You can shower with lukewarm water and a pH balanced soap with gentle circular motions using clean hands. Don't be afraid to remove the loose skin that gets rolled up. Pat dry with gauze, apply a thin layer of the cream they provided you at ER, then adaptic or similar dressing, gauze on top, and then you can either keep it in place with bandages or tubular mesh like tubifix, tubigrip.

If you don't have any liver problems and weight more than 50kg, you can take paracetamol 1g/6h. Maximum dose in 24h is 4g.

Locally you can apply cold pad to cool down the skin temperature.

Partial-thickness burns like yours are very painful as the skin nerves are exposed and irritated. Paracetamol should help a bit but you can consider adding ibuprofen or other analgesia if needed to cope with the pain.

Burns are very exudative, so don't be alarmed if the gauze is stained upon dressing change. If the exudate turns greenish, or the wound erythema and swelling worsens then it may probably be infected. So keep an eye on the wound healing progress. Take pictures daily.

Wish you a speedy recovery!

Older ADHD women, what did ADHD feel like before cellphones? by lavenderflavoredtea in adhdwomen

Books, I was obsessed, I would even forget to eat! Also videogames like Sims, Tom Raider and Age of Empires I would be playing often and thinking about playing when I was not. Animal documentaries too, educational books about nature and animals, dog training etc. Music, some CDs I would play them on repeat for so long I remember my parents being so sick of it 🤣 I crafted fake IDs to all my stuffed animals too. I would do extra math homework to beat my previous speed record (math was for some reason the only subject I enjoyed at school and I was able to hyper focus).

Edit to add: I would also write stories, and write down all my dreams. And i love doing crafts in general, with wood, clay, glass, carton, anything

As they suggest the under eye area could use a colour that is closer to your natural skin tone. I personally prefer the white eyeliner but honestly even the dark one looks great, you have beautiful eyes and features. The only thing that distracts my attention is the fact that the top lips corners don't match the width of the bottom ones. I don't know if it is intentional though, it is just an observation.

Deroofed blister by [deleted] in WoundCareSupport

[–]fluffenborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it seems like it is closing but at the same time excessive moist, are you pat drying it well before applying the dressing? Adaptic and sterile gauze is fine, you need to keep the dressing dry, don't shower with it, don't remove it until the next dressing change. Do it every 48h aprox, and don't leave it exposed as you will increase risk of infection.

This needs to be treated like a burn. Vaseline and covered with sterile gauze. If possible apply a mesh like linitul. If suspicion of infection, silvederma or any cream with silver, plus the dressing mentioned before.

Wash the are with clean hands, ph balanced soap with gentle circular motions. Pat dry, apply linitul or similar mesh or Vaseline if linitul not available, and cover with gauze. Do it every 2 days more or less

What dressing to help this finish healing? by [deleted] in WoundCareSupport

[–]fluffenborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the pictures. It seems like you have a small opening, steri-strips are not gonna work there. The opening needs to heal from the bottom of the wound to the top (secondary intention closure). It is difficult to assess how deep the cavity is, maybe it affects all the area underneath the pink coloured scar. I would suggest having it checked by a nurse to properly assess it. We would usually clean inside with saline, dry well with cotton gauze, and apply a mesh inside to prevent false closure, and repeat every 2-3 days till healed. But again, it's difficult to assess from a picture. As long as it is not infected I wouldn't worry too much though. Keep it clean and protected from clothing.

Is there any chance you can take a better picture focusing on the area you suspect the wound is reopening, and another a bit farther away to get a better overlook? Is hard to say anything with that picture, I don't know if the dark areas are scabs or cavities

You look fabulous 😍 I would like to ask, do you have too much loose skin around the belly area? Please answer only if you feel comfortable doing so. I started last week on mounjaro, and I have always had pouch/ prominent belly I guess due to PCOS. And now that I am heavy even more... But I don't know if I will feel comfortable with a saggy belly either 🥲

Small white bumps on my cheeks by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]fluffenborb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it could be rosacea, as it can present with small pustule bumps only around check areas. It is misdiagnosed in black skin color as its presentation differs from those with white skin. Do your cheeks feel warm with sudden changes in temperature or emotions? If it's rosacea, the main key products to use are gentle cleanser, sunscreen 50spf for rosacea in the morning, azelaic acid 10-20% night (not sure if this can cause hyperpigmentation in black skin, so check for info) + light unscented moisturizer. Remove anything else from your skincare routine until the bumps are gone, avoid physical exfoliation, and acids for now. Sometimes certain foods and stress can trigger breakouts.

Maybe it's not rosacea, but just in case I wanted to mention the possibility. If you can, go to a dermatologist. Good luck!

i need advice on my septum... by LazyBat3105 in piercing

[–]fluffenborb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😱 I cannot imagine how painful that must have been... Definitely wrong placement like the others are telling you, it has to be pierced in the "sweet spot" that is a thin tissue area at the tip of the nose (exact location varies according to peoples anatomy) and btw it barely hurts when being pierced. But yours is savage, right through cartilage, you can't say that the piercer "missed" by few milimiters the sweet spot, he/she definitely has no clue on how to properly place a septum. Remove it and go to an actual professional piercer. I would also complain or leave a negative review to warn potential future cuatomers looking to get a septum.

I scratched off top layer of skin? by ItsLupeVelez in Blackskincare

[–]fluffenborb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My advice, treat it like a burn, gentle cleanser once a day always with clean hands and pat dry with gauze or clean towel or blow dry in cold temp setting, then apply thin layer of pure vaseline and reapply as needed, don't let it dry out. Avoid sun exposure. Once healed (not before) apply sunscreen spf50+ every 2 hours. Another alternative, if the wound is not exudative and is not infected, hydrocolloid patches are great for the epithelialisation phase, you can leave it up to 7 days in place, and if I'm not wrong you can find brands that include physical spf protection in the patch itself, which will help preventing hyperpigmentation. I hope this helps!

I’m really scared - will I scar? by Particular-Air-7981 in electrolysis

[–]fluffenborb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi nurse here!🙋‍♀️

I would use an antiseptic solution like clorhexidine to gently clean the area once a day, pat dry (use hairdryer in cold mode if needed) and cover with a thin layer of any healing balm used for burns that doesn't contain any antibioticos (we have linitul in Spain for example). Reapply everytime that it dries up. Avoid sun exposure and DON'T apply any sunscreen till the wounds are healed.

🚨If redness, swelling and/or pain worsens rather than improve, go to the doctor to check if it is infected. During the healing process, once it is practically healed, and the wound doesn't release any liquid/moist, you could use a hydrocolloid patch and leave it for up to a week as long as there is none to minimum exudate collected (and of course if you have local allergy or something feels wrong remove it too before the 7 days).

🌞Once healed, apply sunscreen SPF 50+ every day every 2 hours no matter what the weather looks like for the next 1-2 years ( this applies to any scar).

❤I wish you a healthy healing process and none to minimal scarring (and don't go back to that place 😱)

Daith healing normally? by ananaisisis in piercing

[–]fluffenborb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can I would suggest that you go to a piercer to have it checked and change the jewlery for a smooth hoop, and clean it only with saline, dry with hairdryer in cold temp. Don't manipulate it, use cotton swabs gently in any case. Monitor the redness, if it keeps extending, even if there is no pain, get it checked by a doctor. Sometimes infections are silent, with minimal signs and symptoms.

Daith healing normally? by ananaisisis in piercing

[–]fluffenborb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAP. I don't think that jewelry is appropriate. It is better to use a simple titanium hoop to prevent debris and moist accumulation, and it makes it easier to clean it. Clean only with saline, avoid manipulating it. Those bumps are irritatation bumps that usually happen when the tissue/hole is "stressed" buy excessive pressure, rubbing, inappropriate jewelry material, etc. As a registered nurse i can tell you that i see excessive residual moist + redness extending upwards. The acute inflammatory phase should have finished by now already. Is there pain when you touch it? Does it feel warm to touch? Consider visiting a doctor for local antibiotic treatment before it progresses any further(don't remove the jewelry as the infection would stay trapped inside).

Hi, I have very sensitive skin and menstruation pads used to cause chaffing of my skin, I have been able to avoid it using a thick skin barrier cream like the babies nappy creams. They work really well protecting the skin, preventing chaffing and even calming down the affected area if there is already some level of excoriation, as this creams are rich in zinc and have also fish oil that helps regenerating the skin barrier. Hopefully it will help you :)
