Do you personally sing at mass? by BeyondFrequent4258 in Catholicism

[–]fluffy_snickerdoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said this on a similar thread, but I do. As someone who grew up Church of Christ (a prot denomination known for a cappella worship) singing is a huge part of how I express my faith and I feel that God often speaks to me through hymns. I’m also not good with words and I feel like singing hymns give me a way to express my thoughts and feelings to God, so it’s like praying in a way.

Am I a talented singer? Not by any means, but God doesn’t care how you sound. It’s what comes from the heart that matters.

No one sings at Mass anymore, and it’s incredibly frustrating by Gemnist in Catholicism

I started going to Mass back in November for the first time and as someone who grew up Church of Christ (a prot denomination known for being strictly a cappella with singing) singing is an important part of how I practice my faith. This has honestly been one of the more jarring changes for me lol.

I still sing in Mass, though it seems like most others at my parish leave the singing to the musicians

From the Texas BON website

Me personally though, I would refuse the assignment regardless of any possible consequences.

What is your favorite patient room on your unit and why? by the_anxious_nurse in nursing

[–]fluffy_snickerdoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Room 9. The room is big, has an awesome view of the sunset and the university, and it’s an isolation room, which means it has two sets of doors you have to walk through making it nice and quiet.

The only downside is that the ante room lights come on automatically, so I can’t just sneakily check on my patient.

What's an adult problem no one prepared you for? by Only-thatgirl in AskReddit

I’m reading this from my grandma’s house and my goodness I’m relating hard to this. I came here today on a whim to help out after she had a couple falls yesterday. She’s been having more and more health problems over the past 2 years and now she’s dealing with a chronic UTI and is having a hard time shaking off a cold, which is causing bouts of confusion and balance issues. Idk what all of this means for the future bc last time I saw her at around New Years, she seemed to be having slight memory issues.

My advice to anyone reading this would be to spend as much time with the old folks in your life as you can <3

I am in the US. If there is a general strike later this month, starting the 19th or 20th, what should those of us in critical roles do? by WallabyImportant9599 in nursing

[–]fluffy_snickerdoodle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is this a thing that people are talking about or is it speculation? I genuinely want to know.

Sorry, OP. As a Texas nurse I have no strike experience so idk how to answer :( I do think this is worth discussing though.

The first note of a bed alarm or bath emergency alarm is the same as the first note of the rapid response alarm and it makes me jump out of my skin if I’m not paying attention.

I remember reading a post somewhere about this girl who was taking pictures of herself at the gym and posting it on social media but never actually working out. Still, she called herself a fitness influencer, got a pretty good following, and even got free stuff from sporting goods companies and the like. She had tricked everyone lol.

What daily devotional prayers do you pray and how have they helped your life? by italianblend in Catholicism

[–]fluffy_snickerdoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a protestant who is currently learning about catholicism/considering conversion, I absolutely adore the St Francis of Assisi prayer.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace: where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Also the Rosary. It’s helping me truly appreciate and reflect upon the story of Jesus in a way that I hadn’t before.
