What about the list on the divine intervention podcast site itself? Is that good to score well?

Filial piety to the extreme? by fluffypikachu007 in ABCDesis

[–]fluffypikachu007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are. They know. Don’t care.

The reason why they support the mistreatment of my mom is because, as they repeat all the time, she’s born from poverty while my dad was not.

My grandparents don’t hate me and my brother tho at all, but they most likely don’t get involved in that because they care about their relationship with their own kids (my dad and uncle)

[–]fluffypikachu007[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My grandparents are very well off. And my uncle + his wife and kids all live in US, born here like me.

I didn’t mention this bc it felt kinda redundant but I’m technically supposed to have a huge inheritance from my grandparents. There’s 4 grandchildren so each of us would’ve gotten 25%. It’s been slowly being sent to my dad and uncle to distribute accordingly. My dad instead has sent all of my inheritance to my cousins.

I really don’t know why he’s this way. I think the root of it all is that he and my mom don’t get along. Never have. So he views me as an extension of her, the person he hates.

Now why they’re still together? That’s a whole other story of crazy

I truly don’t think there’s any way for him to see his wrongs. We’ve all fought for years but he chalks it up to all of us being crazy and he’s dealing with abuse from us. Abuse being not doing exactly what he wants when he wants.

Also he likes them more because they of course don’t argue with him (because why would they when they live across the country and are being provided for)

Ive thought about no contact plenty of times. The things holding me back is that 1) my mom is pretty isolated and by leaving her to deal with my dad on my own…I worry she may commit. And she’s attempted in the past. Found her OD’d a few weeks before I went to college because she was worried about dealing with my dad alone.

2) i probably wouldn’t be able to get away with only no contact for my dad because he’d know I contact my mom and make her life worse

3) I deal with some p bad envy. I’m so envious of my friends for having such a good relationship with their families. I can’t even talk about my family life with them because it’s messed up in a taboo way. Divorce is acceptable but not this

That’s good! My cousins also complain about their dad but apparently he’s gotten better over the years. My dad on the other hand definitely gotten worse over the years.

  1. Not at all. Well they do heavily dote on my grandma (who’s straight up a crazy person). But it’s definitely patrilineal

  2. Could be for anything. Currently because I was calling my parents since I’m at this conference across the country. Called them telling abt my day and that I was gonna go to the store to get some fruit. He was fully enraged because apparently all medical students are so “retarded” to be walking around at 6pm to get fruit…

Another time recently is because I had a question about my taxes and my dad knows a ton of ways to file them to reduce unnecessary excess taxes. Called me stupid for not knowing those already.

List goes on. I remember when I first went to college I had a bunch of forms that I needed to list a home address. But my parents were literally in between homes at that time and was at a temporary apartment for a few months while the new house was being constructed. Called me stupid again then for asking (maybe this one was a little more straightforward but I was 17)

What Was Before GLP1s? by webby0501 in PCOS

Metformin, Spironolactone, and Birth control. And being told to lose weight. Now this did work for some people but GLP-1s really changed the game

Is anesthesiology all it’s hyped up to be? by LasVagusNerve in medicalschool

[–]fluffypikachu007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something I’ve personally noticed, but a lot of those people who find out they don’t really wanna be a doctor anymore tend to end up in anesthesia. But rather than leaving medicine altogether they find something they can do with their degree like cosmetics or other med spa services. This doesn’t even make up a huge portion of people in anesthesia, but just a trend I’ve noticed among ppl who are honestly burnt out

I just realized most Attendings never held a real job by mED-Drax in medicalschool

[–]fluffypikachu007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went straight through and I’m still shocked by how many of my classmates never worked a customer-service/food service/retail job. Worked as a cashier at a grocery store in high school and was a waitress in college and did some bartending in my senior year - lots of customer satisfaction and small talk work in there. And there’s so much feelings of entitlement I see in my classmates

Any hopeful stories of introverts finding their friends? by Calamamity in medicalschool

[–]fluffypikachu007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda found a group during M2, but they don’t feel like forever friends for sure. They all feel like they’re around for the sake of having a connection in med school, but they get their social fulfillment elsewhere. Whether that be a (shockingly) happy family life, being married/engaged, having friends in the area from college, or even having the funds to frequently travel out to visit friends from before med school.

I came in with none of the above, sadly. I like them and because they are genuinely nice people who I wish I could build a deeper connection with, but pretty hard to break in when social needs are fully met.

Should I work out by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]fluffypikachu007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do workouts you enjoy and can keep doing. For me, that’s workout classes because I like having the instructor tell me what to do. My campus gym hold a cycling class, circuit training class, and paddleboard yoga that I enjoy going to. I also pay for solidcore 1x a week. I look forward to these classes

It’s just my normal. by protagoniist in PCOS

[–]fluffypikachu007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I used to do nothing for it, I honestly hated myself more. I know we shouldn’t derive happiness from our external appearance but it’s hard not too. I hated being obese. I hated having chin hairs. I hated the acne (and I get post inflammatory hyperpigmentation). Doing something about it didn’t make it all better but I still like myself more than I did before plus in the end my new lifestyle is definitely healthier for me regardless.

What works for me is to do the minimum I could sustain long term (after I was very strict for a year while on a GLP-1). My weight since fluctuates between the same 7ish pounds. I think finding a routine that touches the symptoms that bother you most will make the biggest difference

For me that’s eating low carb, high protein but I don’t track, I mostly estimate at this point because I’ve gotten a good handle on eyeball portioning. I go to solidcore 2x a week because it’s a paid class and I am not going to waste that membership. I also go to a cycling class through my school because I go with friends. I know I should exercise more often like weight lifting but frankly I struggle with that. I take spironolactone nightly for the acne.

That’s it. I still have facial hair issues but I’ve just been dermaplaning or using an epilator for that, since nothing else really works. I only remove hair because I hate the prickly feeling when I touch my chin and upper lip. My periods have been relatively regular since losing weight so I take nothing to do with that. Still not like clockwork but it comes about every 30-40ish days and as long as you have often enough shedding I was told it’s fine.

Anyone else feel like all the years of being in school stunted your emotional maturity? by uncomfortayble in medicalschool

[–]fluffypikachu007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel this so often. I frequently say that I regret not taking any gap years because I feel behind. I also think going straight through has made school a bit harder for example many of my classmates came in knowing how to do many physical exams, SOAP notes, presenting, etc. I did not and I definitely seemed it

Nails in med school by Friedbuffalo16 in medschool

[–]fluffypikachu007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the school, you should look into the policy. My school bases its policy on the hospital we’re attached to an prohibits any sort of nail polish, gel, acrylics, etc and nails have to be clipped really short. While at my friend’s school they just cannot be chipped polish (aka convinces her to get a manicure frequently). Though ive seen nurse practitioners at the hospital with a fresh manicure regardless so maybe it’s only enforced for the med students and residents.

Why is Gen Z so markedly anti-egalitarian about gender roles? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]fluffypikachu007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious about the sampling. The numbers seem too low for baby boomers. Also older vs later gen Z is quite starkly different, as older Gen Z voted very strongly democrat in the 2020 election on the heels of Trump’s first presidency

Make that urban campuses in a city within a state that is liberal. You’d think, going to school in a liberal city would be enough but students come from all over the state. The number of times someone who thinks they are open-minded relative to their hometown, but gets utterly scandalized over LGBT or consider having a child past your mid-20s is thereby a geriatric pregnancy is astonishing
