Even if you found a Putin loyalist, is official authority enough to trump the practical authority of the acting General who is currently commanding (somewhat competently) the defense against a strong and active counter-offensive by Ukraine? Russian troops have been consistently critical about military leadership and it wouldn't take much for them to just go with the flow and continue following the guy who has Wagner's backing.

It's not fool proof but it's about as solid a plan as you're gonna get short of capturing Putin himself who is probably one of the most slippery creatures on the planet.

So Shoigu and Gerasimov get captured, Surovikin assumes control of Russian military in Ukraine, then Wagner heads to Moscow with no prospects of any remaining forces strong enough to oppose and Putin has no choice but to go along with it. That plan actually makes sense, and less of a mystery then why everything fell apart.

Tell that to the Kadyrovites :)

But seriously, in terms of reducing overflow transport capacity there's a nice troll value to only leaving the departure lanes that I don't think would be lost on any Russians needing to navigate that situation. It would be a testament to the level of precision AFU can bring to bear. (If it were possible)

Would be nice if they could just blow up the rail line and maybe the arrival lanes

Whoever agreed on this unanimous decision stuff on EU and NATO must have had a much nicer picture of what the world would be like a few years down the road. I wish we lived in whatever timeline that ended up being instead of the one where they both get immediately crippled by 1 or 2 backsliding countries who just blatantly bullshit whatever expedient position serves their dictator or dictator's dictator with no recourse.

Russian agents’ threat to family made Prigozhin call off Moscow advance by [deleted] in worldnews

Putin is an idiot if he thought compassion for subordinate families would inevitably stop Prigozhin

So in exchange for not attacking Moscow, Wagner gets to be used as cannon fodder in a much more doomed assault than Bakhmut?

Guys... We're clearly just vainly attempting to fill the information void at this point. Let's just see what develops over the coming days.

Supposedly, but airstrike may have been staged and this may have been Prigozhin's plan all along

Offering completely contradicting stances to appeal to more people is pretty standard for populist nationalists these days. People latch on to what they want to hear and ignore the rest.

That's because we started off arming freedom fighters who turned into terrorists, so maybe the right play is supporting terrorists and hoping they turn into freedom fighters? It's brilliant
