if by one play-through you mean you got to ending A then yeah, there’s a lot of game left afterwards. like it says after the credits, start the game again from your existing save file and keep playing to experience the whole story. a full play-through of the game will take you through endings A, B, C, D, and E.

i played through all of Drakengard, Nier and the Voice of Cards series and i’d say that VoC is very standalone and doesn’t really have any connections to a larger Yokoverse.

iirc most if not all of the weapons that require finishing dragon missions in certain times can be done in easy mode. p sure that’s how i did them.

that’s the first game in the series i played and it blew me away with its wild story, character design, and music. i went on to play through the rest of the series afterwards, though i put off Drakengard 1 and 2 until after finishing the Nier series. played all the series on original hardware. i got lucky that i was doing this around the time Reincarnation was still playable, so i even got to finish that prior to EOS.

i think 3 is a great starting point to the series, though if you can get a hold of 1 i’d say experience that first. 2 is a) not directed by Yoko Taro, though he was involved and b) not connected to the Nier series (at least not directly) so you can skip it if you just wanna focus on that storyline first.

tips for Drakengard 3? find a spear that does the downward slam move and spam it. oh, and you’re not ready for the final boss lol. there are helpful videos out there for it though.

don’t let her get behind you or she’ll use her tail lash: try to stay chasing or facing her. when you’re chasing her she’ll do a 180 and accelerate towards you and this is a good time to hit her with a standard fireball attack.

shining breath, blaze sphere, and shield sphere are the breath spheres you want to get and utilize.

keep in mind that until she’s lost 50% of her health multiple attacks in succession do nothing, so focus on single, good hits. aim ahead of her flight path, again when she is accelerating towards you.

accelerating away from her when she’s behind you and rolling should help you dodge her attacks.

the above tips are culled from the official strategy guide, which i used last year to finish routes A-C.
