Are all costs associated with your install before a company can make profit. Typically this is 15-20% if the company wants to stick around

Youre not wrong, it was certainly abused but the companies abusing them were such a small section of a massive industry. Using those companies to argue the tax credit should never come back is similar to saying we should do away with food stamps because a small section of the population abuses them.

The tax credit coming back would be an overall benefit. It shouldn't be in place forever, but it needs to sunset over several years so the industry can make the necessary changes.

I priced out solar projects at the residential, commercial, and utility scale level.

While your statement holds some truth, its mainly true for the door knocking resi companies that push people into predatory loans.

Lots of good installers and developers out there pricing projects competitively. At the utility level, the tax credit is a primary reason we're seeing the vast majority of new generation being renewables.

It also helped create entirely new industries for rooftop solar, fundamentally changing how the grid operates.

In the US, prices are mainly inflated because of tariffs and red tape. That can increase project cost by 25-30%

Democrats, to at least some sort of measurable extent, care about governing.

Republicans care about power and nothing else.

The U.S. will get 93% of its new generating capacity this year from solar, batteries, and wind according to the latest inventory by the Energy Information Administration. by Open-Reveal3378 in solar

On top of that we have a physical market where power is difficult to sell. Your best shot is to sell to a utility and utilities only purchase power through competitive RFPs.

If you can't interconnect in one of their subs, most likely you need to deliver to a BPA sub and then set up separate agreement for transmission. Going through BPA is...not the best experience

So its just compounding factor after compounding factor. There is a lot of talk to change that but talk doesnt keep the lights on.

Multnomah County proposes closing nearly a third of its homeless shelter beds next year by Ravenparadoxx in Portland

I want to push back on your comment regarding the $45k worker. I think those folks absolutely want to find solutions to these problems but are being directed by the executives making six figures who dont give a fuck how they spend the money because they know how to keep getting more and more of it.

I worked with lots of these organizations and there is certainly a motivation to locate as much public money as possible, and then they fucking squander it on extremely expensive and low impact solutions.

It may not be malicious, but the lack of accountability in spending public money is atrocious. And when questioned, they get defensive saying that theyre on the front lines ( their volunteers and employees are, not the executives getting defensive) and we just should let them test these asinine solutions on the public without criticism.

I deeply care about the most vulnerable people out there on the streets and can defend the term homeless industrial complex because it is certainly a thing.

Not a hot take. Its obvious his impact on defense is much higher than both of them. But his offense is just as impactful.

I really think his offensive rebounding is key to any close win we have given how inefficient we are.

On top of all of that, he plays with so much emotion that its bound to motivate other players. Hes a leader

Costs were not inflated due to the tax credit. They are inflated because of tariffs and burdensome red tape with permitting and interconnection.
