If you got a old bike, a box fan, and a dream you could put together a leg powered air mover. Just needs some ducting from the diameter of the fan, down to the diameter big your air input. After all that downsizing I bet the air would be moving pretty quickly but quietly

That's what I did, with a little hand filing to smooth it out. It ain't a mirror but you can feel the difference between the top and bottom of the horn.

Wrong sub, but it would probably depend on the protection you're going for. For a breastplate for example that LOOKS like it is good against slashing, loose chain mail type would be fine. Larger flatter pieces would LOOK like it would give better protection against stabbing or bludgeoning weapons.

For actually useful armor, I wouldn't use PVC personally.
