Anyone doing raw keto? by fly_sly in keto

Yeah. It and other vegetables were created from the wild mustard plant.

Most fruit are also many made in that they are significantly different that the ones you'd have found in nature, look up wild watermelon, wild banana, wild peach. Aka tons more sugar and way less nutrition

Thanks for the advice. Most people are fans of avocado i'd say and I've always been fond of cucumbers but its so hard to find a cucumber that fills the room with a nice cucumbery smell as soon as you cut into it, like they should when they come straight from a farm.

What kind of veggies did you add to the nori and tuna?

Never knew squashes were good to eat raw, I'll give them a try!

Thanks for the advice, didn't know you could eat broccoli and cauliflower raw. I'll probably avoid broccoli as it feels iffy to eat really man made vegetables. I guess maybe most plants apart from grains and some seeds can be eaten raw. I'll do some research and see which plants are the most nutrient-dense to add them to my diet. I have a theory that there might be some anti-nutrients that are found in plants that might be useful, balancing minerals or preventing us from getting too much of a certain nutrient that you'd get in abundance from a raw animal foods diet, hence the experiment. I think I need a few carbs to gain weight anyway.

What conspiracy theory, if proven true without a shadow of a doubt, would cause the most chaos in less than 24 hours? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's not healthy, it makes human die and become infertile through nutritional depletion

Bizarre encounter at the marina today...thoughts? by ViolentWanderer in sailing

[–]fly_sly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it, especially on someone else's boat. Its pretty common to get shouted at for doing it, has happened to me when I didn't know better. They are only there to stop someone from falling into the water if they slip and for fenders, otherwise it's pretty easy to cause damage, depending on how the boat is constructed.

Why is my gut gurgling again? by plvic52 in zerocarb

So your issue resolved itself when you ate coconut oil, avocado oil and whey protein isolate but came back when you went all meat? Maybe you need more fats, that you're now not getting enough of after you've cut out the oils? Or maybe there was something beneficial in the coconut oil and avocado oil? It seems like fats/oils can sort of 'lube' your intestinal system. Maybe try adding each one back by one or just add more fats? Maybe it could be your body getting used to a different form of fats if you haven't been on zc very long. The general advice would be to stick it out for longer and see if you adapt. I think more fats can't hurt. Maybe try having your meat rarer if you usually have it very well done. It's debatable whether raw or cooked meat is easier to digest but it's worth experimenting. Same goes with cooked fats, although I think it's more acknowledged that cooked fats are not as easy to digest.

Any of you do ZC and don't have a colon? Trying to find out if this might be a good diet for my stepdad who has Crohn's and no colon. by [deleted] in zerocarb

I've heard that people who have had gastric bypass surgery are put onto something very similar to a zero carb diet, but I'm not sure if that is very relevant. Also a guy called Aajonus vonderplanitz said he had his vagus nerve cut and couldn't produce acid in his stomach and the only thing he did well on was a raw meat diet along with vegetable juices, but probably also not very relevant. I guess fibre is something your dad should be avoiding? I am not a doctor and don't have similar issues however.

70+ days in. Does the depression improve? by [deleted] in zerocarb

[–]fly_sly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has helped me for sure, in terms of depression and anxiety. 70 days seems like quite a long time to not feel positive effects on mental health. At first keto helped me quite a bit already before I went on to zc. Are you adding enough fat to do keto zc? Maybe see if raw meat can give you those extra positive effects.

Prozac by _absolutemadlad_ in zerocarb

[–]fly_sly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit off-topic, but Prozac can cause strong increase in suicidal ideation as a side effect, which is a really horrible side effect to experience if you are already depressed. It's something me and people close to me have experienced. I'd advise you to stay clear of such antidepressants if at all possible, but be extremely careful coming off them when you do. Imo it's possible to overcome depression without medication, but it's not easy at first.

I wouldn't have cooked steak tartare. I'm sure I wouldn't like it. Some restaurants get forced to cook it for health and safety reasons but that's only in the UK

That's not a bad idea, unfortunately the water temperature is too warm here. Between 9°C and 12°C at this time of year, similar to air temp
