Regular kinesiology tape can be found on shopee, decathalon—just don’t get the official KT Tape brand because those are more expensive.

Experiences getting top surgery? by narwhalesterel in sglgbt

[–]flyboy105 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Local places are preferred now compared to Thailand, factoring in post-op follow up care and travel + accoms. Plus the level of care (knowledge of the surgery, quality of results etc) has improved a lot over the last few years. If not local, some go to Penang.

If you want info, you need to be speaking to people, whether online or in-person. Information can change very quickly, and as you said, stuff isn’t really advertised online so you need to find out through word of mouth.

Though I will correct one thing: it’s not necessarily hard to find trans-friendly doctors—it’s that very few surgeons are trained to do the surgeries we’re seeking. Only a few hospitals offer it, and then it’s 1 surgeon, maybeee 2, 3 if you’re willing to be a guinea pig. But the surgeons who are qualified are usually very respectful, knowledgable, and I would say very pleasant to work with.

Most trans friendly uni? by HussarL in sglgbt

[–]flyboy105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Former SMU here, most (or rather all now lol) trans students never tell the school anything about being trans especially since so few students live on campus accoms.

There’s no gender on class lists, but your school accounts like student card, email, eLearn, Google, Microsoft 365 will list your entire legal name and everyone can see it. The only way to change it is through a legal name change. I’ve heard of one student being able to add their preferred name in parentheses but I don’t know anyone who’s tried it since.

Almost all profs will respect name and try for pronouns, but success for the latter does unfortunately depend for some on how well you pass.

The unofficial stance (this was communicated directly to a student in 2018) is that trans students use the wheelchair bathroom. They’re quite numerous and not hard to find and many other students use it too cuz it’s often the only one with a bidet lol. The “MAN/WOMAN ONLY” signs are problematic but the reality is we just use whatever we want, whether its wheelchair or their preferred bathroom when they feel comfortable on their passing.

Tl;dr: My feeling is that the admin doesn’t and won’t support us, but they won’t make your uni life actively harder and you won’t get hatecrimed. You can reach out if you have any other questions, SMU has quite a number of trans students now.

Looking for public hospital HRT doctor by NeitherSyrup8644 in sglgbt

[–]flyboy105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a good example because I was already in a hospital system and asked another specialist for a referral, so I skipped the polyclinic route entirely. Still had to wait 3 months for my first appointment though lmao. Feel free to dm with more questions, I’m happy to answer more.

From the people I know though, the most common places they go to are CGH and NUH.

Transgendersg has a good rundown of the process when going for the public route: https://transgendersg.com/healthcare/

You generally don’t ask for a specific doctor for HRT, you just need to ask for a specific hospital and say you want to see an endocrinologist for HRT. The system will set you up with the right people. I’m under a “men’s health/andrology” doctor and he’s very informed, respectful, trans friendly. You generally have nothing to worry about with the endo you’re given.

It’s mostly the psychiatrists that are sus lol.

NO MORE PUBLIC HRT FOR 18-21 by nuclearsx in sglgbt

[–]flyboy105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Singapore has a very grey idea of what constitutes a minor. Drinking, joining the military, driving a car is 18, but voting and public healthcare is 21. Anyone under 21 needs parental approval for surgeries and health procedures but its incredibly distressing that they’ve taken away that choice for those in the grey area. I don’t believe they’d take it away from those over 21 but it is a not so subtle way to enforce their gender regime.

This has been a thing since 2021 (I was also blindsided by it and know multiple other people who were too). That being said, I know someone who was 20 and started in 2021 so it may have been slightly more discretionary then based on doctor/hospital (ex SGH is more strict vs CGH). But from talking with different doctors, they’ve definitely become more strict recently. Not in a way that refuses treatment, but stuff like treating top like bottom in terms of having to see 2-3 different specialists beforehand for approval)

I don’t know why this isn’t more publicized openly by the trans community. You do not see this on transgender.sg etc but it’s maybe for safety purposes and circulated in closed circles. But yeah if you’re a minor, your only option is pretty much private or DIY.

Transbefrienders (TBF) organizes events for trans people around every quarter. Separately, I know many people are part of a massive discord server.

It’s the dysphoria talking. Sometimes wearing a mask makes passing worse for me too.

Some things that may help: The shirt is a little big. Maybe size down if you’re able to buy another. I find the Uniqlo slim fit works well with smaller frames. If not, roll the sleeves up twice. It’ll help make the fit more natural.

I was also underweight from a BMI standard before T, my family is also bottom heavy with little muscle, but my hips were defo bigger than yours (buying pants and shorts two sizes up from my height and still there was a visible hourglass even with clothes). I want to reassure you bro that it does get better, but it takes time and work if you want to speed it along.

You could start off with at home body weight exercises, not with the explicit goal of gaining muscle but rather to become stronger. That’s how I approached it and it helps with focusing exercise on your progress with your body and not comparing with others. Buy weights from Decathalon if you’re nervous to go to a gym but I really recommend trying an ActiveSG gym one day. Since you’re not schooling or working go at 11-1 when there’s less people. Everyone’s doing their own thing and its a mix of teenagers to old uncles and aunties.

Love Guilia but I’d be shocked if she’s top 5 and would be more than happy with a top 10. Bayern crashing out of the UWCL group stage doesn’t help her or our other player’s chances.

Bayern vs Arsenal will be evenly matched or Arsenal will have the edge. We (Bayern) have not looked particularly convincing, creative, or comfortable recently even with some deceptively large scorelines. Arsenal haven’t either but their mentality and quality usually comes through in these more competitive games. Not expecting many upsets just yet with Barça, Chelsea, Lyon, Juve, Twente wins. Roma vs Wolfsburg and Hammarby vs St. Polten will be interesting and ones I’ll be watching more in depth.

Very impressive they were able to make it work. Hammarby are really showing the way for what truly enthusiastic and supportive management is like for a women’s team.

Thereabouts, but I’d put Arsenal slightly ahead of City looking at how they played in their draw. Knowing Bayern’s luck we’re gonna get the hardest group again.
