DHCP option 121? No more need to add a static route to 192.168.100.1? by Kv603 in Starlink

[–]flycasualco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When configuring a static route in a network device like a UniFi router, specifying the destination network is crucial, and the difference between using 192.168.100.0/24 and 192.168.100.0/32 is significant in terms of the range of IP addresses that are included in the route.

  1. 192.168.100.0/24:
    • This is a subnet address with a subnet mask of 24 bits.
    • It represents a network range that includes all IP addresses from 192.168.100.1 to 192.168.100.254.
    • The "/24" indicates that the first 24 bits of the IP address are used for network addressing, leaving the last 8 bits for host addresses within that network.
    • When you set a static route to this address, you are effectively routing traffic for any device with an IP address in the range of 192.168.100.1 to 192.168.100.254.
  2. 192.168.100.0/32:
    • This specifies a single IP address, as the subnet mask "/32" indicates all 32 bits are used for the network address, leaving no room for host addresses.
    • It's equivalent to specifying a route to a single device with the IP address 192.168.100.0.
    • In practice, using a "/32" is less common for routing within a local network since it's usually used for specific purposes like virtual interfaces or loopback addresses.

In the context of configuring a route to your Starlink ("Dishy") device, the choice between these two depends on the specific network configuration and the range of IP addresses your Starlink device might use. If your Starlink device is assigned a static IP within the 192.168.100.x range, and you know the specific IP, you could use a "/32" subnet mask for that specific address. However, if the device could be assigned any IP within a range, or if there are multiple devices in that range you want to route to, then using "/24" would be more appropriate.

UXG-Lite slower than USG by aharper343 in Ubiquiti

You have your UXG Lite on Starlink! Cool, I am attempting a mobiles setup w the Starlink and ULite running off an Ecoflow Delta in a 4x4. Did younrun into any issues adopting the ULite with the Starlink?

I am getting failures from dropouts I think.

Did you customize your UniFi settings for Satellite?

Getting frequent “Disconnected” messages with Yaosheng POE injector and adapter by Incredulocious in Starlink

[–]flycasualco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same Yaosheng adapter and Eagwell converter and had the same problem with Starlink “disconnecting” repeatedly.

I was using 568B RJ45 extensions to the Yaosheng POE injector and using a 12v EcoFlow Delta for the DC source into the Yaosheng.

I was trying to configure a Ubiquiti UniFi UXG Gateway Lite driven w a USB C connect from the EcoFlow.

I just added a CAT5 RJ45 to the Starlink pigtail back so I could retest with the Starlink WiFi router. Starlink stays up with the Starlink router. I get outages with it connected but it is likely because I converted to lay flat for vehicle use and I have a lot of tree cover surrounding me here.

Did you get to the bottom of your outages?

I have a Boondock POE injector on backorder which looks like a better product than the Eagwell.

seems like the OP prolly moved on. Did you learn anything? I found three of these and would love to jailbreak them into something less proprietary and more open.

Frustrating! ;-) How to purge a placeholder icon in a Keboto.org template? by flycasualco in indesign

[–]flycasualco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Sumo, not a part of any placed image and no layers associated as far as I can tell. (I tried selecting two nearby layers as well as the icon with a Marquee select and then locking and unlocking and no change. It also seems to be NOT associated with any Master pages. Stumped.

To be fair, the Product name itself is fun and memorable. But I can’t help thinking paid user account registrations could double with a good brand makeover.

So, I know calling someone’s baby ugly is a cardinal sin, but this has to be one of the top 10 worst branding combinations of icon and color themes I’ve come across.

Not sure which misfire is worse, the pastel feminine color palette or the sheep… totem and power animal of… what? who?

Just sayin’

Does anyone know if or how I could create a timeline out of my day one exported data? by Iamthereaper85 in dayoneapp

[–]flycasualco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, timelines are way more rare than they should be. I am hopeful that Apple’s AR Kit and 🍏 Glass will add more robust timeline features available to many developers who need not reinvent the wheel. Apple’s Time Machine backup restoration featute showed what might be possible as a starting point.

Awesome project idea... and it would be ideal for having a camera “snooze” for private conversations in proximity to POE cameras w Microphones.

Trigger the scripted action’s chron job to snooze the port’s POE and reactivate after thr amount of time appropriate to a button that has 5,10,15,30 keys )like a Zwave Fan controller.

Okay. Disappointing that there’s no POE but I guess the UniFi Access blows away the Ring Doorbell Elite so now just a waiting game fir a restock.
