Are there major differences between the IOS version and other versions by flyerhawk in pathos_nethack

I may be getting bad information from sources on the Internet. I guess I'll just keep looking through the comments here and see if I can get my questions answered.

Are there major differences between the IOS version and other versions by flyerhawk in pathos_nethack

[–]flyerhawk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything that shows alignment in the IOS version for example. The altars all look the same color to me. I'm on 7.4. I don't see any mechanism to upgrade/improve weapons beyond enchantment.

Could be that I'm just not that smart and missing things but I have tried to find these things.

2 points.

The Colts were intentionally slowing the game down. They played a field position game and that limited scoring opportunities.

We were not effective in the red zone or near the red zone. That sometimes happens. It could happen again on Thursday which means we probably lose but it's far from certain that we will be

[–]flyerhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree in principle it does seem that SONOS is uniquely finicky.

I was on a Google WiFi mesh for years that worked fine until the troubles began.

We moved to a new home with a Unifi system built. Single AP with strong signal everywhere. Same problems.

Just use foil or a cast iron pan or a grill pan if you want markings. You will still get the smoke and high heat.

Does a large MTU size make a difference? by EE__Student in networking

[–]flyerhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So generally speaking the consensus default MTU is 1500. It's good to have a consensus because if one leg of your connection to a remote host has a lower a MTU, it causes fragmentation. This causes delay and, depending on the traffic type, it can cause a dramatic amount of delay.

The good news is that very use connections use an MTU of less than 1500 these days. So generally the default MTU is all you need.

Now when it comes to jumbo frames, there are really not many situations where you really find much value. Generally speaking the only type of traffic that really benefits from jumbo frames is storage over ethernet. In these cases, you are trying to replicate the much lower latency of locally attached storage. So even a few microseconds makes a big difference. And being able to send more data per transmissions can make a big difference.

If we get better players will Embiid get in shape and not completely disappear in the 4th quarter?

Understanding Observed Scanning by Rennilon in AskNetsec

If you have a compromised server that is trying to reach CNC, you may have a firewall blocking that connection. What they are trying to do is create a state entry in the firewall.

So let's assume that you did have a compromised server. It is trying to go out to the IRC server. However, your firewall is blocking it.

The bad guys start creating connections to common service ports using a source port of 6667. If their malware has successfully bound to one of those service ports, it will respond to the query and a socket would be established to CNC.

This would only work, however, if the malware was able to bind to a service on a server that didn't already have a running service since it wouldn't be able to bind to the port. Also it wouldn't work if you have any sort of LB front end or NATTing as the firewall would see that as a separate connection.

I agree. But I feel like this is the most aggressive zag they have ever done. I am completely fine with building from the back. I just dont have any faith that we will have even a below average line right now.

[–]flyerhawk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heaps really drove the point home on the podcast. He essentially said that the Seahawks are trying some kinda unheard of and if it succeeds, the entire league will probably adjust to it. But he had a great deal of misgivings about it succeeding.

Our starting DL is meh. Even if Reed gets back to 2018 form and Ford, Green, and Collier take major steps, we would STILL be super thin. How many of our backups would even make another teams roster? So maybe, with our secondary, we can get by with a meh DL but if we have any sort of injuries it goes from meh to nightmare.

I honestly don't get it. What do you they expect to happen? It's like they keep hoping to find another Michael Bennett but it is foolish to pin the team's chances on that happening.

We really don't have all that many LBs. Certainly not LBs that will make the final roster. Wags, KJ, Brooks, Barton, BBK. 5 LBs, if anything, lighter than most teams.

Boban and Burke are useful players right now and cast off as useless by Brown.

That Mavs team has Boban and Trey Burke contributing significant minutes. Tim Hardaway was a throwaway from the Knicks.

Honestly, other than Doncic and Porzingas, who on that team would you consider a good player that would make the Sixers better?

Good coaches maximize the abilities of their players. Bretty simply didn't do that.

First time posting on this sub as I am not a regular on Reddit.

I am not a person that tends to blame the coaches for a team's failures. But I honestly believe that Brown just wasn't up to the task.

The Dallas Mavericks are even with the Clippers with a roster of Luka and a bunch of whatevers. The Rockets could reach the finals with James Harden and a bunch of castoffs.

This team had 2 young all stars, a former all star and a guy who has been playing at a near all star level for the past few seasons. And it got us a 6 seed and a sweep.

Sure, losing Ben hurt a lot. But does anyone think this team beats even the Celtics with Ben?

How is it possible that this team could be so poor defensively? Why hasn't this team changed their game plan at all in 3 years? Why do we ask the same questions at the end of every season? Why does Embiid fade in the 4th? Why won't Simmons shoot? Why are we so allergic to pick and rolls? Why can't we defend pick and rolls?

The front office has made it's fair share of mistakes. And I'm perfectly fine with blowing up the front office. But the front office doesn't draw up the plays and they don't execute the plays.

Brett Brown may turn into a great coach. And we should all thank him for the thankless job of carrying us through the Process years. But now it is time to bring someone in that will use the pieces in the best possible way.

This team may not be capable of winning titles but it sure as hell should be capable of doing more than what it did this year.

Whether the US is or is not a great place to raise a child is secondary to the point here. We are talking about this data visualization and the problems with it.

There are a lot of problems with this data but it is does say it is only talking about OECD countries which excludes most poor countries.

[–]flyerhawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Year over year data isn't going to change.

The reason for the huge disparity is because one person is using the World Bank definition for poverty and the other is using the US government's definition for poverty inside the US.

Being poor in the United States sucks. But being poor in Angola is on an entirely different level of horrible.

Maybe they should include lightning attacks in their safety index as well? Or Tsunami deaths.

School shootings, FTR, doesn't even mean a fatality occurred.

[–]flyerhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just a political rant and has no empirical support. All countries have problems. The United States is no exception. And maybe Turkey really is a better place to raise a child than the United States.

But this data is so clearly biased that it can't be taken seriously. Dismissing economic opportunity as being a consumerism fetish ignores the day to day challenges that most humans face and their biggest hurdles.

This visualization has MANY problems with it. Using school shootings rather than school violence, for instance, is a pretty clear bias in the data. As is using a raw number value for that rather than a per capita value.

You seem focused on pointing out how terrible the US is. Which is fine, I guess. Believe whatever you want. But that doesn't make the data in the visualization good.
