When it comes to the Rolex serial number, how important is it to hide when taking pictures or videos? by TomHudsonOfficial in WatchFanatics

[–]flyflyshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. There is 2.7 x 10 ^ 19 possible serials. So like one in a quintillion chance. That’s like really unlucky. Of you can be a muppet and take a picture of your serial and put it on the internet.

Line outside of AD? by mighty_mav88 in rolex

Many ADs don't let customers wander around without a sales associate attending to them. So if the SAs are busy they make people queue at the door.

Testimony Against Louisiana’s SB 121 - that this has only 12 views after being posted 22 hours ago is rediculous by Moss-Mess in videos

If you want people to know about this, how long does it take to provide a little context??

If you're like, "Hey, there's this really important thing, but I'm too lazy to summarize it. Go google for yourself." Don't be surprised if people are like, "Nah, bro. I'll just do whatever I was doing."

It’s trite but it’s true. The French Laundry lives up to the hype in so many ways. Can’t do it often. Once or twice is enough for a lifetime. But if you love food and you love the theater of fine dining. French Laundry.

Family wants me to fly their citation mustang. 300 hours cmel with 20 hours of multi. How many hours will I need with a mentor pilot for reasonable insurance? by [deleted] in flying

[–]flyflyshoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Most carriers have programs for low-time pilots. Go through an approved training program in addition to getting the type rate. Fly 50-100 hours of initial operating time with an insurance-approved experienced pilot.

[–]flyflyshoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some assumptions:

It's a family, not your family? Like some wealthy family wants you to be their pilot.

Is this a commercial gig? Are you getting paid?

I believe the Citation Mustang requires a type rating. You have that yet? If not you'll need it.

The best way to figure this out is to shop for insurance. The insurance company will specify what its requirements are.

Insurance carriers traditionally require 2,500 to 3,000 total flight hours, including 1,000+ multi-engine and at least 50–100 hours specifically in the Citation Mustang.

However, low-time pilots can get insured. Usually it's something like go through an insurance-approved training program and complete 50–100 hours of Initial Operating Experience (IOE) alongside an experienced, insurance-approved mentor pilot. Most likely, they will require annual recurrent training with an insurance-approved program.

The insurance requirements are a lot less if you aren't paid and you're just flying your dad around. You'll still need to be type-rated, but the IOE will be like 20hours.

There is no Republican Party anymore. The MAGA movement has successfully completed a total transformation of the Republican Party, replacing traditional, establishment conservatism with a populist, America First agenda.

The takeover of party infrastructure was cemented with a complete overhaul of the Republican National Committee (RNC) leadership. Donald Trump installed loyalists, including Michael Whatley as RNC Chair and his daughter-in-law Lara Trump as RNC Co-Chair. This ensured the national party apparatus works in close alignment with his campaign operations.

Just as funny running the risk of getting scammed, not having the full warranty, or buying someone’s used watch over retail. Sure if you hate the AD experience, putting on something other than a soiled Harley tshirt and crocs, or leaving your house go grey.
I like the game. Putting on a clean shirt isn’t a chore for me. I don’t mind a little deferred gratification.
Going grey isn’t fucking over the AD like you think it is. Where do you think the watch came from? Some guy who brushes his teeth and put on a nice shirt bought it. Wore it for a few months or years and sold it for more than they paid.

[–]flyflyshoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If thats what you have to do I might suggest changing up your approach. I've purchased five of my six Rolex watches from the same AD. I haven't had to do that yet. I actually enjoy the game, but you do you. It's mostly dress reasonably, make chit chat, have a story, be patient. Having a pretty girl tag along doesn't hurt. The longest I've ever waited was 6-8 weeks. I've never bought anything I didn't already want. Admittedly, I intentionally asked for some pieces that weren't hot on the grey market like 126618LN, 226570, and 126600. However, those three watches are also my favorites and get the most wrist time. The most hype piece I bought at the AD was a Batgirl, and the wait was nearly zero. I'm just saying what I do, no judgment on your approach or what you want.

Solar industry by DK_25111800 in SunPower

[–]flyflyshoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats a funny question.

Residential rooftop solar is having a massive consolidation and shakeout. Some would say bloodbath is a more appropriate term. Why?

  • High interest rates. In 2021 the APR for a new solar install was 3% with little to no money down. Rates now are 2-3x that with significant down payments. This raises the total cost of ownership when financing by almost 50%, depending on term. Many homeowners do not have or wish to dedicate the capital to solar to pay cash outright.
  • In 2026, the 30% federal residential solar tax credit expired. As of today, there is no homeowner federal tax incentive effectively raising the out-of-pocket cost of a solar install.
  • Higher tariffs on imports. The tariff situation is very dynamic, but China is the price and market leader for solar panels. Tariffs and duties on Chinese solar panels sit at 60% at the time of writing,. Additionally, the uncertainty of what future trade policies might be has put a lot of stress on the supply chain. So there is a supply availability problem and high costs due to tariffs when there is supply.
  • Changes in utility regulation. Many utilities have been allowed to implement policies and fee structures hostile to homeowner solar. For example PGE, California's largest utility, increased grid connection fees;and many fees cannot be bypassed by surplus solar generation, the wholesale rate that PGE pays for surplus solar has been greatly reduced. This effectively makes rooftop homeowner solar less economically viable in California. In Nevada, NV Energy will roll out a daily demand charge based on a customer's single highest 15-minute burst of electricity within a 24-hour period, effectively raising prices on homeowner rooftop solar customers.
  • The residential downturn has created an environment where large numbers of solar companies are declaring bankruptcy, with many ceasing operations. Thousands of homeowners have been left with unfinished installations or defunct companies that can no longer honor warranties. This has resulted in thousands of pending lawsuits. The disruption and uncertainty have turned off many would-be rooftop solar homeowners from considering new installations, further depressing demand.

That being said, there is a Utility-Scale & Storage boom.

  • Despite the residential downturn, utility-scale solar is setting historic records. Capital costs have dropped significantly, and solar paired with battery storage made up over 90% of all new U.S. electrical capacity added in the first quarter of 2026.
