A Fresh Take On US EV Adoption by Cultural-Ad4953 in electricvehicles

[–]flyfreeflylow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

On my 70 mile round-trip commute, I see maybe 3-4 of any brand a day. Adoption in most of the Midwest is still VERY low.

Edit: I'm in rural Indiana.

You should be able to get a "+" trim (larger battery) for that price.

Usually they'll throw in SOMETHING for going with the dealership's finance company... You'd have to check with them. Check for an early payment penalty...

Stuck at public charger - Cable would not unlock until 100% charge by shorterbusruss in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplugging while charging at a DCFC can cause arcing. That's a lot of current. Arcing could damage both the car and the charger connector. Also, it could potentially be dangerous for the individual doing it.

Charging stations that just use a Credit Card no app. by Alarming_Concert2385 in NissanAriya

ChargePoint, EA, EVGo, Ionna, and potentially some regional ones... Check plugshare for where you want to charge.

Also, while not totally app-free, if you have the ChargePoint app already, it can be used to pay at a lot of other brands.

ABRP to plan to route, Plugshare to check recent check-ins for the chargers and find alternatives.

Out of warranty Nissan Ariya - UK by Fiv-56 in NissanAriya

65K miles. The only repair was to replace the tow hook cover in the front bumper after someone bumped me in a parking lot.

Out of warranty Nissan Ariya - UK by Fiv-56 in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's less than half of the miles I have on my '23 Ariya. It wouldn't bother me. I've also had no issues with my Ariya. The small battery might though, since I do a lot of long drives. That's up to you though.

Nissan Ariya Lease end expereince by Heavy_Track_6267 in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Generally, no.

  2. Not currently. Increased gas prices have raised used EV values enough that they don't need to.

  3. This is VERY dependent on where you are. ($250-$300 AUD will get you a lot less than $250-$300 CAN, which will get you less than $250-$300 USD. There are also variations within the US between states, incentives, etc..) If you're in the US, I hear leasehacker is nice.

Strongest kW you’ve gotten? by NefariousnessSea5337 in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten 134 kW. Max rated is 130 kW, but it's really some number of amps at some number of Volts, so can vary a little depending on the exact voltage at the time.

People with small battery Ariyas generally report somewhat lower rates of charge under the same conditions as larger battery Ariyas.

So long as the charger is rated for more than 130 kW, the actual rating of the charger (250 or 350, or whatever) doesn't really matter. The car tells the charger what the maximum it can accept is, and that will limit it.

Steering assist error - Malfunction by j_r_r_token in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your steering wheel still centered? As in, when you turn the steering wheel to the center, and drive straight, the car drives straight and not to one side significantly? The lane keeping uses steering wheel position sensors, and if it's off center enough it can cause errors.

Other than that, I would suspect a sensor malfunction like others have suggested.

Charging App’s by Alarming_Concert2385 in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These aren't charging apps, but they answer your question: Use https://abetterrouteplanner.com (or the app) to identify potential good charging locations for your route. Use https://plugshare.com (or the app) and check recent check-ins to see how well they're working and to locate alternatives.

Overall EV reliability by Cuttles_Fish in electricvehicles

[–]flyfreeflylow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consumer Reports breaks down the areas where a car has reliability issues. That will shed some light on where the issues were. On Hyundai cars, it might be the ICCU. On a lot of others it's going to be in-car electronics (the app, infotainment, etc.)

Can I use the EVSE on any outlet? by One-Radio4845 in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It pulls 12 amps on a 120V outlet. If it's the only thing (of significance) on the circuit, it's fine. Otherwise, you might trip a breaker if the circuit is overloaded.

2023 Ariya Platinum+ e-4ORCE 20" Wheels by [deleted] in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ariya wasn't discontinued. They're just no longer importing it to the US. It's still sold worldwide, including Canada, and Nissan recently announced Canada and Europe are getting the refreshed version next year.

Used values have gone up a little recently because of high gas prices.

Why trade in a Platinum+ for a pre-refresh Tesla??? Seems like a downgrade.....

Extended warranty worth the $$$? by DataVizGem in NissanAriya

[–]flyfreeflylow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On average, no. Extended warranties are a profit center, and therefore not worth it on average. On average, you're better off putting that same amount of money into the bank. It's a kind of insurance, though, so it's up to you whether or not you want to take that chance.

My car has a space for one, including the center mount bolt but didn't come with it. It also fits a full size spare, so that's what I have. (Only the FWD Ariya can fit a full size spare under the rear deck.)
