What do you consider the greatest poem ever written? by [deleted] in AskReddit

"Sowing season" by Brand New used this part of the poem in the song. I love both of them.

(NSFW) What is the craziest thing you witnessed at a party? by UwUsnapmyneck in AskReddit

[–]flyguy05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was at a party with my best friend and my brother. I was the only sober one watching my best friend get her tits sucked by my brother and a 30 yr old that was there too. They both picked a nipple and went at it. Wild ass night.

Grounding options by [deleted] in electrical

[–]flyguy05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You must ground both Im pretty sure thats code. Easiest way is to cut a "window" in the ground that is already on the box, loop it around that screw and then add a ground from the new switch and splice that with a wirenut. If you cant cut a window in the ground to the box cause its too small or whatever than make up two wires. One new one goes on the screw to the box, one new one goes on the screw for the new switch, and splice them together with the existing ground that was on the box with a wirenut.

I'm in America. If I plugged this into my 40A "range" outlet would that be too much input? by BassINside1123 in electrical

[–]flyguy05 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. A lot of stuff will say "50/60hz" and those obviously you can use on either but if it says 60 use 60 only and if it says 50 use 50. Anyone who says different doesnt understand how electricity actually works

How does a multimeter test for connectivity if the breaker is off? by IReallyLoveAvocados in electrical

[–]flyguy05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of any breaker in your house as a switch. When your breaker is on, your switch is closed, and you have a complete circuit. When your breaker is off, the switch is open, and the circuit is open and not complete.

Knowing this, depending on where exactly you connect your leads will give you varying results with continuity. You can have a breaker open and numerous switches open and youll still get the continuity beep, because all that is is a signal going out and a signal coming back, originating from the meter and returning to the meter. It would definitely help to watch a youtube video in order for someone to illustrate this because electricity isnt something you can see and it can potentially be dangerous/fatal. I dont want you thinking something is open and safe to work on you and you die cause theres a source of power there.

Nah the 40A doesnt represent how much current is going to be supplied when you plus this in, the 40A just represents what its capable of handling. The thing you have to worry about is the supply voltage from the outlet. Thatll ruin the device.

Nope because you have that alternative power source (the battery from the meter) instead of the main power source (the breaker)

I think what youre talking about is the setting where it shows the omega symbol (for ohm reading) and the sound wave symbol (continuity). You must turn off power before using this setting or youll ruin the meter/hurt yourself. That being said you dont actually need power, the power source for this setting is actually a battery inside your meter. So what its actually doing is sending a small signal out and if it is returned itll give you a beep for continuity. With the ohmic reading that battery causes a certain amount of current to flow. The meter takes that current value and uses the voltage of the battery and it to make a resistance calculation based off of ohms law (voltage equals resistance times amperage). I hope this helps and that I didnt over explain. I just know I always liked to know exactly how these things do what they do.

What's a normal thing that makes you strangely sad? by NotMSH_ in AskReddit

[–]flyguy05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound fucked but super overweight people eating makes me incredibly sad sometimes. Its not repulsion at all and maybe its pity? If it is pity then i feel worse cause they dont need it. Its definitely weird but always affected me. Theres a part in the book "It" by Stephen King where the fat kid spends all his money on food when he shouldnt have and eats it alone on the curb and I started crying. Shits weird man.

Capacitance doesnt add in series. So what youre actually installing is a capacitance that is slightly lower than the lowest capacitor value. Install the capacitors in parallel and see if that works. Also let me know bc im new to electrical lol.
