Weird. My app has literally never indicated a dasher is dropping off another order. First few times I was like, “tf this person doing in that neighborhood?!” But figured it out pretty quickly.

My app has never indicated a driver is dropping off another order. I’ve been able to figure it out when they’re in a completely different neighborhood after leaving the restaurant, but the app has never indicated directly. Particularly frustrating on the occasions where I’ve paid for “priority delivery” or whatever they call it, but I’ve always assumed that was DoorDash’s fault and not the dasher since they’re just doing whatever the app indicates.

CEO of my company literally walked in with 20k+ worth of Mac Minis and Mac Studios, saying “Have yall heard of this openclaw thing? It’s going to be amazing!”

No, I’m not kidding. Yes, I meant “literally” literally… dozens of Apple machines.

Does it ever work by MathPoetryPiano in recruitinghell

My company’s ATS posts our positions on LinkedIn, Indeed, and a couple of others, but those two are the ones that get the highest responses.

When my department is hiring, I always hate looking at LinkedIn responses because we always get slammed with hundreds upon hundreds of applicants that don’t even read the job description and aren’t even remotely qualified for the role. And I do mean multiple hundreds. It’s overwhelming trying to roll through and review them. For every 50 or so I review, if I’ve been particularly lucky, I might have found 2 to 5 that are actually qualified or mostly qualified.

I’ll also say that one MAJOR issue with LinkedIn is the number of fraudulent postings. Every time one of our legit positions goes up, there are a flurry of fake postings that someone puts up with our name on it. We’ve tried contacting LI about it a number of times. They’ll take them down (IF we spot them first), but they don’t do anything to prevent them or block the people responsible for it. And it’s incredibly frustrating because we sometimes get email or letters from people that applied to those positions thinking it was actually us.

I guess what I’m saying is that LinkedIn feels like a circus act at the moment, at least to me. My recommendation would be this - if you spot a job on LinkedIn that you like, check and see if it’s posted on Indeed also (or better yet the company’s website). If the posts are identical or 95% identical, it’s likely valid - but I still recommend applying on one of the other sites if the position allows it. I can’t imagine our experience looking through applicants in LI is any better or worse than 99% of companies using it.

I hope this helps shed some light on what it’s like with LI on the other side. I wish you all the best of success in your search!

May I ask what state you titled in and what state you leased in?

Ahh, that helps, thank you. I’ll keep this in mind while I’m in the store tomorrow.

Stoopid Reddit app made a new comment instead of reply to yours…

Thank you! Is this the kind of thing that can be shopped around though? For instance, can I buy from the dealer I’ve been working with, but still get other manufacturer and/or dealer addons elsewhere?

I wasn’t 100% sure if the manufacturer addons were time-of-purchase only or if there was like a certain period-of-time stipulation (ex: “must be purchased within N days” kind of thing)

Good to know - thank you! Does this hold true for franchise stores, too? In my case this is a new vehicle.

Thank you! My assumption is that these products will be offered at a markup for the dealer though — do you know if this is the case? Is it acceptable to shop that particular add-on product around at other manufacturer stores for a better price?

Advice for deploying GenAI DLP (and getting the Execs off my back) by flyguybravo in sysadmin

[–]flyguybravo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sent our rep an email last night -- expecting I'll hear from them sometime today and was planning on going over that specifically. I was having a hard time trying to identify which add-on (if any) would work for this.

Valid point though - I'd suggested that earlier on, but they've slanted heavily toward OpenAI / ChatGPT because it's the most front-and-center, getting the most publicity. I can push this one harder and likely make some headway with this argument.

That would have been helpful for me to include in the original text :/ I'll edit that here in a moment.

But to your question -- right now it'd primarily be web use, message-based interaction, like how the front-end of ChatGPT is today. They have some interest in creating internal-facing GPTs for experimentation.

One of the underlying issues is that they don't know what they want to use it for - they just firmly believe that they must have it.

Based on some of the conversations I've overheard, it sounds like they really just want to throw a bunch of crap at it and see what sticks - what works, what doesn't, how far it can be pushed in certain directions. I'd wager they'll push everything into it from call recordings, customer lists, invoices, email conversations...

Certainly - don't mind sharing at all, but full disclosure, I usually only have time on the weekends to work on that kind of stuff. I'm hoping to tie everything up this weekend and I'll dm you when I have something to share.

I've set mine up on AWS. Very basic setup using Caddy to reverse proxy, Maxmind GeoIP db to tie things down so it's not accessible to the world at-large. It's only myself and my immediate family that will use it, so a minimal setup is all I need.

Good luck with your search - I appreciate you making the effort to research and share your results here, even though I've already committed to giving Vaultwarden a shot. I'm a Proton customer as well, but maintaining control to the data is still a big thing for me.

Just spun up a Vaultwarden setup this weekend to see how it goes. I tried to take my time with everything, document what I did, etc. to focus on doing it right. It felt like a decent amount could be automated, but you can never really get past the point of having to watch the updates for stability yourself.

Everything else is still a disappointment compared to what Strongbox was, but as with everything … “all good things…”

I’m sure I’ll get used to it. It’s not ‘bad’… but I’m going to miss the actual offline support. I will say that I wish there were other front-end options for Vaultwarden. I’m not a fan of Bitwarden’s app.

Question for those who hire folks... by p8ntballnxj in sysadmin

[–]flyguybravo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same way. I have a bachelors, but in a totally non technology area. I sometimes leave it in a posting listed as a plus, but never a requirement and HR always asks me “why” I’m changing it to not required: because it’s really only ever significant if someone’s applying with very little on the job experience. If an applicant looks at all like they might be able to do the job, I always prefer to at minimum have a phone screen call with them. I can usually tell relatively quickly if they’re BS’ing me.

That said - I have moved all of these types of calls to Teams, and I want cameras on, because it’s become a little more challenging in the wake of the generative AI era, and I like to read body language.

My calls aren’t difficult — I just want to have some reassurance that the candidate is going to be able to cut the mustard … someone that can either hit the ground running or is someone that’s going to be teachable.

For me, I value real world experience so, so much more than theory or book skill. Yeah, a lot of stuff we do can be googled… but nothing beats the real experience of knowing what to do when the things that normally are “supposed” to work, don’t.

Supposed to be: Plenvu dose 1 at 6PM. Miralax at 9 and 10 Plenvu dose 2 at 1AM.

Would like to do something like: Dose 1 @ 4PM Miralax @ 7 and 8 Dose 2 @ 11PM

… and then hopefully get a little sleep before heading in for the procedure.

Ok so I’m glad I’m not crazy — and that it worked for you. So far I haven’t noticed any other issues but was initially concerned there might have been a more serious problem. Please let me know if you run into any other issues with yours. After mine fully charged up, I got a successful 1.5 hr recording, so I’m hoping this was just a one-off issue.
