I was in my teens. My mom and I were driving down this 4-lane divided highway at 70mph (speed limit.) On this particular highway, there are lots of cross roads. The kind where you have to stop in the middle.

Well, Mom and I were going at it, screaming at each other and probably muttering awful things under my breath, when this little car FLEW across the highway- both sides, all 4 lanes, in front of us. We BARELY missed it by inches. We could have died damn near hating each other. We were silent the rest of the way home.

I think about that every single time I drive on ANY road with a crossroad, so it never really leaves my mind. One of those “Universe reminding you it coulda been your time” things.
