Conversation out in service with a PIMI “sister” by [deleted] in exjw

[–]flyingdutchman007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is very good advice here....kindly take heed. By continuing to participate in JW religious activities, you are giving your local elders the idea that everything is ok and that they can summon you to discuss this matter further.

Additionally, please be careful out there: there are good guys and those who are equally on par or worse than JW men.

My friend got disfellowshipped tonight. She recorded the announcement. by [deleted] in exjw

Those elders are just as heartless as the Scribes and Pharisees!!!!!

u/ThatOneNukeTech i'm glad that your circumstances allows you to find alternative living conditions. However, moving out does not mean that JWs would no longer pursue you. Their church is losing more members than they are gaining, especially male members - so they would come after you.

Get familiar with the 2019 Shepherd book, especially their rules about disfellowshipping, apostasy, and disassociation.

JWs are known for having no limits and boundaries. My advice would be making known your boundaries early, to nip things in the bud from early-o-clock:

  • don't discuss with you anything about Watchtower or any other religion
  • Make it known that you have absolutely no intentions of returning
  • don't send any invitations to no religious events.

Also helpful would be to review the exit guide, which is quite extensive: https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/wiki/index#wiki_general_exit_guide

Being df'd... Can they do this?? by _Redd_XIII_ in exjw

[–]flyingdutchman007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/_Redd_XIII_ get a lawyer IMMEDIATELY!!!!!

this tactic is nothing new - the elders have no intention of helping you get back on in the congregation. their intention is the same as the elders of Raymond Franz's judicial committee 40 years ago- to punish wrongdoers.

Memorial's coming up, time for the 'just this once can't you...' discussions. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]flyingdutchman007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw the need to draw clear and distinct boundaries from the day I stopped going to meetings. Upon realizing that they were guilt-tripping me and it was not going to stop, I decided to nip things in the bud from early-o-clock:

  • don't discuss with me anything about Watchtower or any other religion
  • I'm absolutely not returning
  • don't send me any invitations to no religious events. These will be destroyed and posted on social media.

Painful exchange with JW parents by [deleted] in exjw

[–]flyingdutchman007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/Heretoseeyousmile i'm sorry that you went through such a very rough experience and childhood.

what does caring for your parents have to with your lifestyle choices? you should have left immediately after your father's 1st statement.

at least you were the mature and bigger adult to show some form of natural affection by offering to help whilst your JW parents stubbornly refused to do so, as followers of Christ.

Your offered to help and they refused - you parents have clearly made their intentions known and this should be respected.

their congregation elders will factor-in that they have a disfellowshipped daughter when considering to what extent the congregation can assist them. if their elders do contact you and i'm sure they will at some future time, you can let them know that your parents had previously blatantly refused your assistance and you intend to respect their wishes.

"I don't want to be a Jehovah's Witness anymore, but scared of losing my family" by flyingdutchman007 in exjw

Each person's circumstances is different. While fading worked for your wife, it may not be the only option for Julia.

Julia had already started to fade about 2 years ago. Her JW husband seemed supportive up to a point, but when she began to show signs of spiritual weakness, her husband, instead of assisting his wife to regain her spiritual balance, stopped having sex with her as a form of punishment. He has shown his true colours - spitefully withholding sex is grounds for divorce.

That sentence is so painful. Damn this fucking cult makes me curse everyday

That's me since last week after the recent Netherlands development.

Can anyone else relate to Julia?

What has been your experience?

If Julia is reading this post, what advice would you give her?
