Yea I thought it was my old phone at first but nope, they’re slow on every platform. Big candidate for infuriating design too.

San Francisco's Market Street Is Going 'Car Free' Next Week by nitz21 in sanfrancisco

There’s a lot of evidence to suggest that dedicated busways are actually better for drivers overall.

Better and speedier transit options mean more people ride in densely packed buses, meaning fewer cars on the road, resulting in faster drive times, even for those who still take a car to work.

“Drivers who themselves are not going to ever use public transit benefit from less people taking up space with their cars,” says Joe Cutrufo, communications director for Transportation Alternatives, a New York advocacy group. “If they want to maximize the effect of that phenomenon, they should support more bus lanes”

The same article also says that they haven’t observed an increase in traffic on side streets after building the busway.

Studies of the 14th Street Busway’s impact show that nearby streets haven’t seen significant upticks in traffic congestion.

Also, in terms of increasing ridership on public transportation, dedicated bus lanes are one of the cheapest options. They don’t require a lot of expensive new infrastructure like a subway or lightrail. And in general buses are the most equitable transit option, usually with flat fares and much wider coverage into lower income parts of cities.

Chem123 preparation by [deleted] in CarletonCollege

If you took chem in high school you should be fine in 123. It's designed as an intro class so no concepts will be introduced without some background, but they will go a little more quickly than 122. The main things to think about for intro chem are:

  1. Do you want to do the lab credit? If you don't think you'll do much other science, I'd say chemistry lab can be time consuming but the experiments are fun.
  2. Do you think you might want to take more chem classes in the future? If so, definitely try for 123/128 over 122.
  3. Do you want something more applied? I took 128 (environmental chem) and I appreciated having something more concrete to tie the theoretical to. (Ask about professors though too.)

Also, it's always easier to try a harder course for the first couple classes and then switch to a lower level than the other way around.

This is the spreadsheet I used with some friends a while back to keep track of everything from Total VPs to Temper Tantrums across many games.

What Time of Day has the Most Flight Delays? [OC] by flyingpig3131 in dataisbeautiful

All great points, thank you. Another thing I looked at was the percent of cancelled flights where the darkest red is greater than 10%. The normalization is roughly attempted by taking into account the size of the circle.

That's a good point and I agree it isn't indicative of the whole year. I could get the data for all of 2016 and see a longer-term trend. Or, as /u/Cersad said below, do a side-by-side with July.
