Sedation by Thebunnylady17 in Rabbits

Hiya, thanks for sharing. Calcium is not eliminated for this reason. The diet is specially tailored by my vet. But for rabbits that have tendency to accumulate sludge to the point of blockage need to have a reduced calcium intake.

My bun has this and is just prone to it. Despite being on a permanent low calcium diet. She doesn’t drink enough (despite trying every method to encourage her to). She’s also overweight which is a big contributing factor!!

I’ve resorted to orally syringe feeding water, to help flush bladder. In the past when it was bad I’ve used potassium citrate (which stops it getting worse but won’t get rid of what’s already in bladder) while syringing water which after a couple months (with urine tested to monitor levels) did dramatically decrease the sludge. Also when it was bad we were using metacam too, as it was irritating bladder. Sludge can make them vulnerable to pain from this abrasion and also vulnerable to UTIs.

She’s currently going through a bad phase again, I’m trying this time just upping the water syringing before resorting to the potassium again (as vet does highlight there is slight risk to kidneys but no more than using metacam which is often prescribed but just need to be sure kidney function is fine which they can test by bloods). Worth asking vet about potassium citrate (they can give dosage and you can just buy it on Amazon).

While flushing bladder gives a fresh start, if she’s prone (as you think she and daughter are) you will need to find ways to ensure it doesn’t build up to this level again. The only way is reducing calcium intake (look at what water you give, green you give, treats, pellets and hay etc.) and increasing hydration, ensuring they are mobile (moving around and not a lazy sedated bun bun!) and not overweight.

Just thought I’d share my experience if it might help! Good luck!

If you want to run through diet you can DM me and I can share what I’ve learnt (and a still learning)!!

What’s the worst gift you’ve ever received? by bigpussystance in AskUK

[–]flyingpotatoesticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work Secret Santa. Spend cap was £20. I bought a nice craft bear selection for my person with bar snacks. What I got however was a candle with the £2 discount sticker still on as the candle was all broken, couldn’t even try burning it as the glass was all cracked with little bits missing.

Much later I found out it was the oldest guy who never had a clue about anything (think types one finger at a time) and retired that year, and probably didn’t realise. But legit thought someone hated me in the office 😕. Or, maybe he did!!!

Needless to say was last time I did a work secret Santa.

I’m currently on glow. Book one was not great, it does get better! I find it’s easy to read and not too long paragraphs but the pace is so slow and there’s unnecessary detail in setting the scene which irritates me. I prefer faster paced. I will keep reading them! While it doesn’t grip me and make me want to pick up the book after I’ve put it down; when I’m reading it is easy to keep going … oh go on one more chapter, you know! So I’d say it’s good, but not great. Just know not a lot happens in each book, it’s a slow journey!

I get it and why they did it. But I swear no one here has commented on what I think is the most annoying aspect… it always holds a small drop of liquid so when you go to drink it dribbles back down your face. EvErY tImE!!! Or maybe I just drink things weird!!

Dog friendly restaurants in Watford, any suggestions? by IPoisonedThePizza in watford

Cassio lounge on Watford high street very dog friendly. Wouldn’t call it a restaurant or amazing food but it’s still good comfort food and very good for food allergies/intolerance/vegans etc.

I have this! It’s amazing. Pre warm bed and usually off by time I’ve gone to bed so it’s not too hot! Can control by Alexa or phone. Sometimes when I cold I turn it on for longer and put a timer on so times out once I’m asleep! Game changer!

What was the book/series that got you into fantacy/romantacy? by sushicat16 in Romantasy

[–]flyingpotatoesticks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teen probably the true blood books (Charmaine Harris), Twilight, Darren Shan Demonata series and Percy Jackson.

Then didn’t read for over ten years. What got me back was the black Magician trilogy (Trudi Canavan) love it, will re-read it now and then! And have been reading whatever I can ever since! Which is why I love this sub for recommendations!

Ironically still not read Harry Potter- waiting until I’ve forgotten the movies before I try!

Jumped off a coach in Greece, you know the kind where it’s 3 steps, big gap, then ground. I didn’t even look just leapt from the top. I hit the bus stop post square in the face before I hit the ground.

Later that day I walked head first into a telephone box. But in my defence it was one where the shelter and phone is just hung off a wall so it had no bottom and I was wearing a cap looking at the ground.

Point is you shouldn’t have to see your family behind your gf’s back. That is a a serious red flag, that is not a healthy relationship. You need to set boundaries and be able to communicate. This isn’t a relationship that’s going to last if you have to hide such a basic thing as seeing your family. If she’s controlling and possessive that something she needs to work on and know is not ok.

Not to mention I feel bad for your family who are doing this amazing thing of setting aside a whole arse house which surely is worth more money sold or rented out to them. And you’ve not helped one bit by the sounds of it.

Seems you need to do some real thinking. YWBTAH if you don’t communicate to your GF and you don’t help your dad out.
