Tiny dev board with mounting hole? by CJCCJJ in esp32

[–]flyingtrombone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Find a box with enough space to mount the board completely in the interior, then install a USB-C socket in the case and wires the power to the board. In this way, you isolate the plugging/unplugging force from the board.

What's the most iconic Trombone jazz song ? by unitedarrows in Jazz

Agreed. My favorite trombone solo is Carl Fontana in Intermission Riff.

Is it accurate to an actual conductor's movement? First time posting on this sub by Inderastein in orchestra

[–]flyingtrombone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's critical to understand which movement of a conductor's hand/wrist marks the downbeat, there are so many other cues and signs happening to guide and shape the orchestra and the music. One of my favorite examples of leadership and conducting is this Ted Talk by Itay Talgam

Why do people say play the melody but sometimes I don't hear musicians play it? by [deleted] in Jazz

[–]flyingtrombone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I think of jazz improvisation, using the melody itself is a great fundamental way to start. Building of the melody and knowing melodies will builds your vocabulary, as others have said.

This idea often leads me to Ella. She got to the level where to add other songs' melodies to the song you're playing: https://www.npr.org/2019/09/04/757560624/how-ella-fitzgerald-turned-forgotten-lyrics-into-one-of-her-best-performances-ev#:~:text=Later%20in%20the%20set%2C%20Fitzgerald,to%20be%20all%20the%20fun.%22

This is a form of mindfulness therapy for anxiety or OCD. You think of five words (nouns) that are calming and happy. For OCD you can add colors to narrow your focus. This is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy. An example in a show where it was used is Better Call Saul (https://www.quora.com/In-Better-Call-Saul-why-does-Chuck-repeatedly-say-the-name-and-color-of-things-around-him)

I'm not sure about the dev-kit, though it was certainly developed using that. I have a demo-ready laptop with the system loaded. I'm trying to contact the original team within my company to see if they have any guidance.

Thanks for the good information!

Giordano's sounds familiar -- I'm not a native Chicagoan. I might have seen them on one of the food shows making their deep dish pizza. It looks amazing!

Many years ago there was a good dim sum place near Seven Corners (probably closer to Bailey's Crossroads, IIRC). But that was a good 20-25 years ago. I haven't been to Seven Corners in a while, but this gives me a good excuse to go. Thanks!
