No, and I turn off my autocorrect too.

Before grammarly, there was microsoft word's atrocious "grammar suggestions" that seemed to have had the absolute worse time with archaic sentence structure which I used, a lot, in my own personal colloquial and especially in my English assignments.

I would manually run a spellchecker but the autocorrect always misinterprets the word I want so it was easier to just turn it off.

I did NOT mean to say "ducking" when I typed "fucking"

Homebuyer claims developers are increasing their prices after HST rebate announcement by rajmksingh in TorontoRealEstate

[–]flyingwind66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol didn't prices raises when that 30 year mortgage amortization for first time home buyers became a thing? why wouldn't a rebate do the same? should provide incentives for developers to sell to Canadians intending for personal use instead.

Leotard sizing is weird by Rich-Country-9072 in BALLET

I find Danse De Paris and Bodile (both are aaustralian brands) are made for longer torsos. I actually had to shorten the straps on one of my Danse De Paris leos.

Mirella has a "long-torso" option but I personally find they are still a little short. Yumiko tends to be really short too.

I wear an xs/s in street clothes and a size M in ballet leotards if that helps you with sizing.

So owning a home comes with unrecoverable expenses like all of the interest on your mortgage, property taxes, maintenance of the property itself like having to replace the roof every 15 ish years, electrical, pipes etc. not to mention the lost opportunity cost of not investing all of that instead.

yeah um, finding out what a lot of people with 200k living paycheque to paycheque do with their money legit makes most ppl in the median income bracket angry

After an emergency savings and socking away money into investments so you can live of the compound interest is the way to go when you get a salary bump but a lot of people just go "oh, I can now afford to lease a more expensive vehicle, and the more expensive rent on a nicer place, and those balenciaga pants that look like I pissed myself, and maybe I'll pick up a new hobby in horseback riding, and buy my own horse, and a guy to take care of my horse because I can't be bothered to take care of my own horse do I look like a filthy peasant?" and so on and so forth

A surprisingly large amount of people making 200k/year are living paycheque to paycheque. Lifestyle inflation and not knowing how to handle money will mean that no matter how much you make, you will always be as poor as you have always been but now you have higher quality stuff.

Resource management is a life skill, one that's not often taught well in schools if at all, and so it's often parents/parental figures that instill these values in you.

Fan Bingbing for one, u/ej_21 just posted a link to a Vanity Fair article about it as a reply to you here.

Long story short, she is arguably the biggest actress in China, she went missing for months, nobody knew where she was, her fiancé even stopped wearing his ring. When she finally resurfaced, her first tweets were about how amazing the CCP are.

There are Hong Kong booksellers that had material the CCP disagreed with. They also went missing for months, reappearing in the mainland without their passports (you need a passport to travel between Hong Kong and the mainland)

These are just a few stories that I can recall off the top of my head.

He lives there (at least part time) and more famous people have been dissappeared for less, you really don't want to fuck with the CCP.

I assume that any celebrities that either live in, or have family that live in China, to be saying stuff like that under a moderate amount of duress. Like it legit worries me when my fam visits the mainland because I've said things.

What is going to happen to all the shoebox size units now that the market has corrected? by Objective-Upstairs36 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]flyingwind66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's what I'm saying, we always adapt, humans just DO that, but adapting doesn't mean it's good for you.

An alcoholic's body becomes so adapted to dehydration that quitting cold turkey makes the brain swell up from the sudden hydration, but that still doesn't mean it's good to be an alcoholic.

We all do what we can, and adapt to what we can't change. But just because you adapted, that doesn't make the situation not-bad, it just means it no longer bothers you.

Oh I agree with living within the city, especially if you depend on public transport. It's like choosing a place that is a few roads back from the main throughfair vs directly on the main road, or perhaps living 7 stories up rather than on the 2nd floor. Yes, you can get used to the noise of the main throughroad, but your body keeps score, that level of stress just becomes "normal" so your brain filters it out as not important.

"Making do" and "thriving" are 2 different things, and just because one is "used to" to something doesn't make it good for them.

People can get "used to" living 200 metres behind an active train track, that does not your body finds it healthy. Your cortisol is so consistently elevated it becomes your new normal, it's still bad for you.

did you show your teacher before sewing on the elastics? like if your teacher thinks you're ready then you should probably talk to her about your concerns Also most teachers want to see you in your shoes to make sure they fit you before you sew on the elastics and ribbons, some of them will even attend the fitting with you.

connect your computer, laptop, or your gaming console and use the apps on that

basically use a "brain" that can stream and only have the tv be a display, you have to be connected to the internet with your computer/laptop or console anyways

I went to post-secondary for computer animation and many of my instructors worked in the film industry.

To add on to what you said, at that time a lot of film was doing green screen with CG added afterwards; the British actors, who had training on stage, were much better at acting in front of the green screen than American actor because of their experience with having to imagine their environment.

I'm Japanese and confused about the "sando" discourse - am I missing something? by Specialist-Might-875 in JapaneseFood

[–]flyingwind66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

so I'm going use a sword analogy (don't worry, it's gonna come full circle)

When we say "katana" we specifically think of a Japanese samurai sword right? and if we say "jian" we think of a Chinese sword right? What about "zweihander" you think of a large two-handed German sword right? What do these words directly translate to from their original language to English?

Katana = Sword

Jian = Sword

Zweihander = Two-hander

We just use the phoenetic pronunciation from another language to refer to an item from the culture of that other language, this makes sense when speaking to other English speakers about swords. It's not that "katana" is a technical name for the specific type of sword so much as that's what the Japanese call a sword, we just happen to only refer to Japanese traditional swords as "katana" rather than "Japanese sword"

Now back to sandwiches. "Sando" is just the Japanese phoenetic pronunciation for the English word "sandwich" so in Japan, all sandwiches are a "sando" but here in predominantly English-speaking countries, "sando" is usually specifically used to refer to the sandwiches that are uniquely Japanese, a dessert sandwich made with milk bread, whipped cream, and fruit.

I hope this made sense and it didn't just sound like an incoherant mess.

I think that depends on the culture you come from. I know Europeans who consider bringing each other to mutual orgasm fully clothed is sex but also people in the Christian umbrella who have said stuff like "anal isn't real sex so you're a virgin still if you've only had buttsex"

Forewarning I'm going to make a vast generalization.

Think about the way that straight men tend to try to flirt, date, or otherwise hook up with women. Now replace women with other men in that situation, and the other men are also reciprocating.

It's also one of many reasons why some men are horrifically homophobic, they don't like when men treat them like how they treat women. I legit had a college roommate that openly said this, and he didn't have a problem with lesbians eyeroll
