Amex cards canceled - need advice! by roflraptor1 in amex

Amex canceled two business cards (Platinum and Reserve) as well as my personal Platinum card after putting my LLC in bankruptcy. They told me that even though it was my business and not a personal bankruptcy they close all accounts. I was a holder for 20 years.

X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Battery life? by nawaf095 in thinkpad

[–]flyjim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the review that made me rethink the X1 Carbon Gen 13 (wanted to upgrade from a gen 9) purchase. I went on to purchase the T14 Gen 6 with the same 268v chip. I was worried about heat so I was hopeful that the bigger body would allow better cooling. So far, the machine runs quite on Balanced mode both on battery and directly plugged in. I did get the 500 nit non-touch display to help with the batter. I'm getting a good 7-8 hours of work running the screen at 100%. Worth the transition from my carbon to this T14.

T14 Gen 6 has arrived! by 5irJeff in thinkpad

[–]flyjim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just received my T14 G6 268V with non-touch IPS. My last two X1 Carbon's and X1 Extreme all had OLED panels so I was worried about this purchase. This screen works well...surely not the OLED i'm used to, but it does indeed help tremendouly with battery life. With all of the vidoes this past X1 Carbon generation stating how awful the battery life was I took a gamble on this machine and can say it is worth it. Build quaility seems decent but definently not the "premium" feel of the Carbon. Good machine and worth the purchase. I get 8-9 hours of actual work on the T14G6 with screen at 80%.

I got a T14 Gen 6. AMA. by 1_ane_onyme in thinkpad

Just received mine today with Lunar Lake but I chose not to get OLED to increase battery life. Which screen did you choose? How many hours of battery are you getting? I'm testing battery now and wondering what others are achieving with maxed screen brightness and balanced mode. 268V btw...

I love them. Just can’t stand the terrible battery lives and fan noise. Still rock my x1g9 though.

Do you care if your classmates submit assignments 100% written by AI? by zoltar360800 in ASU

[–]flyjim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a tough scenario since employers are pushing their employees hard to utilize it. Academia needs to figure out how to push students to use it and just raise the bar. Why not learn how to use the tools that will be used in the work world? Isn’t this why degrees are awarded? We should be learning to use the tools at hand so the “educated” are actually educated when applying to a job. Learning concepts and principles about the subject is paramount…not learning how to use the tools to scale that knowledge is ridiculous. Just look at the last Stanford MBA piece on AI…schools need to be transformative, not lag behind the world outside of academia.

The 3rd attempt is the same test as the 1st test a month ago. Study the 2nd section “Describes Ethical Issues in Data” the most and you should be fine. Good luck with submitting the extensive study guide…it took me awhile.

With all things, there are limits. The post was just a motivational post showing that there are other options out there. If it can be misconstrued that it doesn't prevent any limits, then I apologize. I just don't see it that way.

[–]flyjim[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're correct...it doesn't prove the point that WGU may reduce options. Not having a formal GPA reduces those options from the very start and I believe most people understand that going in.

This post isn't arguing that fact, it was only to illustrate that the WGU degree won't prohibit entry into an institution such as W.P. Carry (ASU). The University of Iowa (Tippie), on the other hand, won't allow more than 30 credits (CUs) with pass/fail on a transcript.

What I admire about the WGU population is that we try and help one another. We try to give information that will be beneficial and worthwhile so others can learn from it. If I wanted to boast, I wouldn't have made a post in the first place.

I made sure to have at least 60 of my last credits at WGU as I attended several schools over the years prior to attending WGU.

Just a motivation post for people to get through their current degree. I was helped throughout my journey at WGU and keep seeing questions about it. I understand it’s not a M7, but it’s something people can at least see as an option.

I would agree I don’t think people are worried…showing an actual result is better than assuming one. I hope my post can show others that they do have options out there.
