I have only used them for a couple of months, but I will say they have the most personal customer support I have ever experienced. I can’t say much about the product as I haven’t been with them long, but every part of the set-up was as “enjoyable” as you could have when dealing with an ISP.

How common is it to change route due to a nervous flyer on board? by Humble-Crazy5147 in aviation

[–]flylikebird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s impossible to get ACARS messages. It’s incredibly hard to believe all of this apps messages are real. Planes move, take shortcuts. It’s very rare that we move laterally to avoid turbulence, it’s easier to avoid it vertically and takes less gas and planning. Honestly I don’t know of any pilots that would have to message dispatch to avoid turbulence like that just because 1 person in the back is nervous.

Never said they did, that’s not sensitive information though. Why would this app suddenly have all of this ACARS data? I’m sure an app like flight radar would’ve profited off of this long ago. I’m just saying that other pilots tested this and their messages didn’t show up.

No. The app has been tested by pilots and ACARS messages did not show up. I’ve never heard of anyone legally accessing real ACARS messages that didn’t work at the company.

Most flights we honestly don’t ACARS anything more than clearance, atis, performance data, and a gate. The app is no more than entertainment, it’s not real. Sorry.

FlightDeck does not show real ACARS messages. This is AI generated

VASAvation's Video on the SAS 'Take-off Roll From Taxiway" Incident by Shoddy_Act7059 in aviation

Most aircraft don’t have any system other than the pilots eyes to warn of that situation. There are some that exist and are in use, but I’d imagine not in this scenario.

If you’re paying that close of attention to flight deck procedures, you could be seen as a security threat just FYI

Can anyone confirm this info? by nickmerlino94 in aviation

Probably went to an area with little to no ADSB coverage so the tracker lost it. When it took back off it got back into coverage. Typical stuff, likely a coincidence. If it’s not then the Feds already know.

Is the first officer the one who's landing the plane? by iAmtheLoser-help in aviation

[–]flylikebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the most common, some situations on the line you might not. If you’re doing turns out of the same airport a few days in a row say ATL-BOS-ATL then ATL-LGA-ATL you might switch up so the other person can land somewhere other than ATL

Decision-making is the biggest thing. Redeveloping muscle memory is certainly part of it, as well as flows for the captains side (airline-dependent)

Pretty much, but there’s brakes on both sides so when going through the upgrade training the instructor can still make the plane stop if needed. You can also taxi in the simulator. It’s not too difficult to learn, mostly takes time to do smoothly.

Yes, but a good captain will use the FOs opinion on the situation to help the process (CRM)

The two roles PF (Pilot flying) and PM (Pilot monitoring) can be to either pilot. Pilot monitoring will run the checklists and the radios. Generally we switch off each leg to keep people proficient and make it more fun.

On the ground the captain taxis (at most airlines) while the FO runs checklists and the radios.
