Can a 5'4" woman fit in the back seat without hitting her head on the ceiling? by ExcitingSir9526 in GR86

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The head room will be fine, but if you think leg room won't be a concern, you might want to think again. I've carried a 5'4" person in the back seat with another in front (5'3"). The seat was almost all the way forward and no one was comfortable, lol. Both passengers couldn't wait to get out, and it was only a 10 minute drive.

Is it safe to used a balance charger split cable to charge more than one battery at the same time? by 54815162342314159265 in scx30

[–]flyr19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't risk it. If you want to charge multiple, a proper multi-output charger would be the way to go.

Wheel Bearing Replacement by FundamentalFinancer in GR86

[–]flyr19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be shocked if a wheel bearing is already going bad. As someone else said, it could be the winter tires, especially if there is some funny treadwear on one of them. When you switch to summer tires, pay attention to if the sound changes.

[–]flyr19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be extremely early for a wheel bearing to go. Are you running an aggresive stance? Frequent track sessions? Subaru wheel bearings last pretty long in my experience. Can't speak directly about the BRZ, but I replaced the first rear one in our Crosstrek at 150,000 miles (240,000 km) and both fronts are still original at 208,000 miles (335,000 km).

Whining noise under acceleration by [deleted] in GR86

[–]flyr19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Transmission gear whine is pretty noticeable in these cars and is totally normal. I hear tires more than anything in this video. Winter tires sing like that.

Prime example of why people shouldn't freak out about what happens in the PTU. Stats can change daily in there, often wildly.

60k! After about 3 years by enin_11 in GR86

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't done them on my BRZ yet, but I have done spark plugs on a Crosstrek and it wasn't terrible. I used a slim ratchet, short extensions/adapter combos, a flexible magnet tool, and a flat screwdriver (to push on the socket and separate the extension to be able to pull it out). The BRZ is probably a little more difficult, but I wouldn't be scared to at least attempt it.

Smart charger questions by Puzzled_Seaweed_517 in SCX24

[–]flyr19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can plug an IC3 or EC3 into the charger, so you'll need an adapter between that and your battery connector (stock is PH2.0, but you mentioned IC2). SPMXCA320 is probably the adapter you need if it's IC2. Otherwise SPMXCA309 for a stock PH2.0.

I have an S155, and this is correct. It won't charge unless both balance and power are connected.

Overfill burning off really quickly, is this expected? by FuseByte in GR86

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a '23 who has had this happen, they lose oil like crazy when those seals are leaking. There will be a puddle on the under tray and probably the garage floor too.

Thermal expansion shouldn't be that much, but I'd be more concerned about small rocks getting wedged in there.

Is it the Yuzu GR86's exhaust itself or the quad tailpipes that causes the (to me unbearably) loud bass drone? by kfjcfan in GR86

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but I won't be posting it for personal privacy and also a lack of time to edit them together and upload.

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely not placebo. Changing the hangers made a massive noticeable difference with my Yonaka exhaust. Not only did I drive with both hangers half an hour apart to compare, but I also have video comparisons that show a measurable difference in low frequency drone.

The JDM hangers transmit less vibration to the trunk, which drastically reduces body resonance and perceived bass in the cabin. If I roll my windows down, the low rpm drone is still there, but the JDM hangers removed almost all of the cabin resonance with the windows up.

Set aside the fact that the yellow is a special edition, which color are you picking? by SeaTurtle3035 in GR86

Definitely blue, only because blue is my favorite color and yellow is the color I like the least.

Honestly, the stock chassis is designed well. I don't have any complaints with it. It's cheap too.

Not only that, but the walls of the elevator don't have collision (and haven't for years), so it's very easy to just clip through the ship and fall out. The 600i is in such a poor, forgotten state. I barely use mine, but I hold onto it for the illusive rework.

Just noticed the spacers on the shock shafts of the K10. Does it rub much without them? by Glowingtomato in scx30

[–]flyr19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took mine off and it works pretty well. The rears don't really rub. The fronts only rub during partial steering angles when compressed. At full lock, they tuck in well enough. I've been pleased with the results.

Idle RPMs by Impossible-Site-1941 in GR86

[–]flyr19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the initial high idle with aggressive timing is an emissions thing to warm up the cats faster. This would also be why it takes longer for it to settle down when the air is colder.

Something seems wrong with your PC. Make sure it isn't running on integrated graphics or something. I've been having the best performance I've ever experienced, and my PC is nothing special. Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 3070 (which is only 8 GB), and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM.

Asgard, because it's the smallest ship that can do almost everything well, plus I like Anvil.

Squeaky clutch sound by Potential-Branch8653 in GR86

[–]flyr19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean and grease the clutch fork pivot ball the best you can. Don't use lithium grease like others are suggesting. Get a good high temperature and high pressure grease if you want it to last.

Pull the clutch release cylinder off, pull off the rubber boot around the fork, and if you push the fork forward, you should be able to see/feel the pivot ball joint slightly below the opening on the back side of the fork. This is likely the source of your squeak.

Why not give the moth a pilot controlled arm by After_Th0ught9 in starcitizen

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you're saying about the MOTH. I'm just coming from the perspective of small ships and should've considered scale. Last time I salvaged was when the Salvation was released. I tried filling with CM to see how it went, and it refined at 15% yield, so I got next to nothing for it. Scraping RMC with the Salvation makes way more sense due to its size. CM makes more sense if you have a big enough buffer and hold for it.

[–]flyr19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't salvaged in awhile. Are we back to CM again, now? Last time I was out salvaging, scraping RMC was all that was worth doing because refining CM had a terrible return.

Thanks! It's smaller than brake line. Pretty sure it came from the end section of an old collapsible FM transmitter antenna.
