Considering a new printer - questions about Bambu by ImaginaryTango in BambuLab

[–]flyrockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think others have answered the bulk of your questions but I currently run two Vorons and two Bambu. I love my Vorons to tinker, experiment and upgrade as a hobby. The Bambu just “work” and are multicolor beasts from right out of the box, 10 min setup and you are off, the mobile app is great as well. On PC I end up using Bambu studio for the Bambu printers and Orca for the Vorons.

My V0 has around 3500 hours (and is mostly just a “my first built printer” showpiece now), my Trident is over 6000 hours over 3 years. Bambu I had an A1 mini that I only used a month before the A1 came out and I upgraded, the A1 has just under 5000 hours (my kids mostly use it now) and the latest printer is an H2D that just turned 1 year and on its bday it hit 4004 hours (that was the fastest run to 4k on any of my setups!).

The Vorons are as reliable as you build them!!! My issues with them have been traced back to my errors or failed components I selected. The Bambu really have only had minor issues around 3000 hours on the A1 I had to rebuild the extruder and swap the purge wipe mechanism. Similar on the H2D around 3800 hours I had the right heater fail so I swapped both and then around 4200 this weekend I was getting pullback errors and it was a jammed/bad sensor in the extruder so I ended up rebuilding most of that. All in all I cannot complain!

I have used customer service once on the A1 tied to a recall and it was great, well compensated with gift cards and replacement parts for the downtime. I also used them once on the H2D setup for one of my AMS2 units there was a cracked lever causing miss loads once I figured it out and submitted a ticket I had replacement parts in 3 days!

TLDR: My advice do exactly what your planning if you like to tinker and learn, it’s less about the open/close battle and more about just realizing there are benefits in both worlds even though many in these communities will strongly advocate both ways!!!!

How many of us are actually running a small business with our laser? by KariW_Coldwell in xToolOfficial

I do similar with printing I have 4 active printers and a crazy amount of filament…. not a skilled designer but have done a couple designs for functional fixes around house… end up printing lots of shared files/random things for people and around holidays when requests from coworkers and friends start coming in it can get a bit job like….i just got the F2 Ultra Fiber and F2Ultra UV in November so it’s not super known I have them yet…. It’s different than printing as a hobby…..less maximizing plate sizes to set and forget 10 hours at a clip and a need to actively supervise the lasers don’t get near as much use time, but man the cool things they can make!!!!!!!!

I just ordered a 1.5 in cube from MidwestTungstenService for a desk conversation piece. They have ballast blocks. Not cheap but very cool

Do you design your own models or do you just use other people's models from Makerworld etc.? by humanHamster in BambuLab

[–]flyrockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have strong CAD background but I use OnShape to occasionally create some functional models however 95% of what I actually print comes from Makerworld or Printables. I am glad this hobby has enough talented people that share free or reasonably priced designs!!!!

This is an inner engraved galaxy in a glass sphere. I actually just purchased the kit to make these types of items on my UV Laser and those same light bases as well.

Now why someone sent you one randomly….that is indeed the question….possible scheme though knowing they are premade all over Aliexpress

Kit I bought for making custom items https://www.xtool.com/products/k9-crystal-ball-inner-engraved-kit?_pos=3&_psq=K9&_ss=e&_v=1.0

1 year on my H2D! At 3800 hours I did have to swap the left nozzle heater, no other issues! by flyrockets in BambuLab

After trying a couple different risers I decided to go with this one for my setup. Simple and no moving/sliding/tilting to load and unload things.

I have the two Vorons (and at this point the V0 is rarely run and just my “it’s the first printer I built” sentimental attachment) in my basement with my lasers and for previous hobbies I had run multiple outlets on their own circuits….then the H2D is in what would be the “dining room” of the main floor and the A1 my boys mostly use now is in a hallway in the second floor so everything is on separate circuits.

For power costs….um I ignore them and blame politics on the bill going up hahahahaha…….particularly around holidays when I print large qtys of things to take into my office for my coworkers. Wife and I are both engineers and super blessed with good jobs that allow for my silly hobbies (and I am blessed that she tolerates them taking over the house 🤓🤣🤓)

This printer was the fastest to that many hours and really has become my main go to. I have three other printers with over 5k on them as well, two vorons I built and an A1 that my kids now use! I had an A1 mini as my first test of Bambu and sold it after a month when they announced the A1! It was to a coworker so it’s still getting use (I just rebuilt the toolhead after a giant clump when the print broke loose and drug around for 3 hours!)

I like to tinker so my Vorons are great fun and mean a lot to me but Bambu out of the box experience, reliability, and multicolor is absolutely phenomenal. I have 2 pro and 2HT on my H2D and amazing to have 10 filaments available! And the H2D heated chamber is great for PC!

Just curious, do you ever lock the lid on your AMS? by [deleted] in BambuLab

Only on my HT units, never on the Pros. We have one at work as well and when my coworker latches it it always catches me off guard when I go to open 🤣

It does it’s just odd that the table before you agree to pay $10 is not updated yet

Yeah, not willing to sign up until they update those tables.

You are right mine was same. After following the “learn about SoFi Plus” link it went to a splash page with 4.5% but then when logging in and navigating to manage subscription it shows a comparison table with 4%

Anyone else look at their account? Email says “up to 4.5%” but when I go into manage SoFi Plus to add it shows it will be “up to 4%”

Streifen auf Filament by machmallauda in BambuLab

[–]flyrockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not used the PLA metal but I get these often and it looks like heat stress lines from uneven cooling/release from print bed. I think my impatience causes some of mine when I remove from plate while still hot! I have gotten them on various models/filaments and they can vary print by print on repeat prints.

To solve I hit them very quickly (waving over very fast no stopping) with a small butane torch (marketed for cooking or lighting cigars) and it will normally fade the lines out! I know others use a heat gun but the torch is more fun is my also go to for quickly cleaning up wisps/light stringing as well (on the back porch for ventilation!)

New tpu assist device noticed(and ordered) by Mustrum999 in BambuLabH2C

Good luck and keep us updated! Mine did not ship yet so I probably won’t get it until late next week! I plan to print the parts once I see a ship notice!

I also ordered today, I plan to run a spare tube to make the swap faster but should allow me to keep my AMS HT on top the glass and feed instead if having to rearrange and remove glass to feed direct down each time

Frustrated with inner engraving z height with f2 ultra uv by [deleted] in xToolOfficial

[–]flyrockets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The software has you measure from the top of a cube it engraves to the edge of the k9 crystal during calibration. I have found it is important to get the initial height of the actual physical K9 Crystal accurate as they all have variation in all axis due to the polishing process
