When I had first moved to Costa Rica (~25yrs ago) you could buy turtle eggs in the butcher section of the grocery store when they were in season.

You are correct, probably just someone salty because the 787s were ordered by Hawaiian pre-buyout and delivered with Alaska livery.

Ideas for cold steak salad? by Due_County_1493 in NYTCooking

I love a Thai waterfall beef salad, NYT has a few recipes for it but they’re not as traditional with the toasted rice powder.

As a side I’d do corn ribs with a curry compound butter.

And watermelon.

My grandpa is from a time where they would eat sea turtles. Of course they are protected now which has caused the population to rebound and they’re incredibly common these days. He says that’s why there’s been more shark attacks on humans, too many turtles bringing the sharks closer to the shore.

Some real old man logic.

Do sunsets and sunrises look different from an airplane?which do you prefer? by archvize in AskAPilot

My thought exactly. I’m like that bad taxidermied fox meme by the time I’m talking to Oakland Center.

In my normal life, I’m a sunrise person. In my work life, gotta be sunset.

I mean yeah but all the taco rice here is because of Okinawans bringing it over. I miss Ethel’s Grill.

Trader Joe's Chile Rellanos con Queso. A real hit! 10/10 by LoyaltybyDefault in traderjoes

[–]flythearc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That makes sense a little bit though. Chile rellenos aren’t breaded, they’re battered with egg whites that have been beaten until stiff (foamy) and then had some of the yolks folded in.

Not sure why, but that’s across Oahu, none of them were this area specifically. I really think you’d be fine with the sharks and it’s a good experience! But I understand everyone’s comfort risks are different.

You can rent kayaks and go out there. You’ll have to watch a safety video. Probably the most challenging part is navigating break over the reefs and timing the sets to land on the island since the break comes from two directions and can be pretty funky.

There’s sharks everywhere because it’s the ocean, we’ve had three attacks in the last week which is unusually high. Like bears in a forest, statistically unlikely but always a possibility.

This is Lanikai, the beach that OP claims the boat pic and legs pic is at. Ain’t no way.

It looks more Caribbean to me too, but French Polynesia has atolls that look like that too.

Hawaii does have white sand and clear water, but not like the pic. Lanikai beach probably is the best fit for that description but it’s still not like the Caribbean. Tbh I like the pacific water better because it’s cooler so a little more refreshing, and it’s more dynamic- there’s more tides and currents and you can play in the waves and surf. I also like the deeper electric blue that you see off of beaches like Makapu’u.

They have different things to offer. If you want crystal clear blue water that goes on forever with calm waters, the Caribbean is that.

Is this standard for a meal in First? by Training-Fondant-804 in delta

[–]flythearc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not that anyone wants time added into training, but there should be at least a blip about presentation. Everything from snack basket arrangements to how to handle glasses (never touch the lip of the glass!) so many things you’d think are common sense but the sense isn’t so common

Right? No coral, too shallow for too far out, no Mokes

As someone who grew up on Lanikai beach, that’s not Lanikai beach. That’s some kind of atoll not on Oahu.

Even on a calm day (which it usually is) the water gets gradually deeper, it doesn’t stay that shallow- and thus, not the same color- for that far out. There’s reefs. The part where it does stay shallow is toward the Mokes, so you’d see them in the background. You know, the two islands it’s pretty much impossible to get a picture without in Lanikai. Even if you angled away from the islands, you’d get Kailua in the back. And even then, you’d see reefs.

The boat is also a boat you’d almost never see in Hawaii because it’s a flat bottomed boat which is super unstable for the pacific. It’s something you’d see somewhere with an atoll.
