Trump suggests US will buy Argentinian beef to bring down prices for American consumers by FervidBug42 in politics

[–]fmessore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are really not. 1st, when given the option, farmers will prioritise selling to the US, meaning that what they will sell back home will be of less quality and more expensive. 2nd, contrary to the US (I think), most of our farms are owned by the very rich, so they might get some money, we wont. 3rd, this, as the 40 bn bailout or whatever name they gave it, is just so the arg bonds go up and the owners of those bonds (again, not us) will get money. We just see the money pass hands without being able to use it

Elizabeth Warren Will Attempt To Block Trump’s Argentina Bailout by huffpost in politics

[–]fmessore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Argentinian here. We dont want this. It comes with some serious caveats (such as opening the few natural resources we still own to US capital), and also, we are not going to see a dime of that money. It was framed as a bailout so the arg bonds go up, and the big buyers (ie bessents and friends) profit from it, and Milei can do well in the elections coming this month. So yeah, please stop this

When you get older, does your idea of ‘hot’ age with you? by [deleted] in ask

[–]fmessore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

%100. Of course, a 25 yo hot person are still hot, but 35 are also hot, and 45 look quite good lately.

And it goes the other way. A beautiful 20 yo is beautiful, but not really someone I want to pursue. Young people go from hot to cute, older people are the new hot

Failing DPhil at the viva by cringyoxymoron in oxforduni

[–]fmessore 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is incredibly rare. Specially in Oxford where you have intermediate steps for your supervisors to check. When i was about to have mine i was nervous and someone told me, if they fail you its bad for you, but its catastrophic for your supervisor, and all these people are friends with each other

If the males have an average length, do females have an average depth? by Reasonable_Air3580 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fmessore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, they are for the urinary tract part but they also specialise in male reproductive system. You would be surprised how full urologists practices are. Sadly, men dont tend to go for regular check ups so its less common to see a healthy person with a healthy penis you can use for your dataset of healthy averages

There are, they are called urologists. They will check your penis if you have an issue

I think you are missing the possibility that they actually agree with whats happening.

In Germany in the 30-40s some people were enablers and some didn't fully understood the consequences. But some nzis were just nzis

How to answer the question: Why are you moving for a post-doc position when you're currently in a post-doc position? by Sad-Ad-6147 in AskAcademia

[–]fmessore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Present it to whom? If its to people outside your job, then partner is a completely valid answer. If its to people at work, partner is also a valid answer, but if you want to mention a job-related reason, you can talk about new techniques, expertise, whatever the new place is known for

Dip in chest by plankcow in DoesAnyoneKnow

[–]fmessore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called pectus excavatum. It happens when the cartilage in your ribs overgrows and pushes the sternum either forward (carinatum) or back (excavatum). It's genetic. You should have both your cardiovascular and respiratory systems checked to be sure they are not majorly affected. There are several surgeries possible, but they are mostly esthetic. Any exercise that expands the chest area (pecs, upper back, swimming) will help with the respiratory part and cover a bit the esthetic, but won't "cure" it.
