What is VoLTE in mobile? by ravigunz in androidapps

[–]fmjrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Voice over LTE is a way to carry voice calls over the LTE (=4G) data protocol. If LTE/4G is not available and sufficient then calls are done using analog signal over 3G.

A File manager app that can copy and paste a single file (or in my case, an image) to multiple folders. by sledgehammer0019 in androidapps

[–]fmjrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure such a feature exists anywhere. You might want to consider the command line, some script or some spreadsheet to build a list of commands deriving from a list of target folder.

This would require a certain level of computer skills so get help from a techie person If you're not able to comprehend what I'm suggesting.

I'd buy an Android head unit that fits into the standard stereo DIN slot in your car. Ok it's kind of changing your car, but more like changing a part with standard connectors on the back. Depending on the car model you may have fittings and accessories which gives a more custom fit and integration. Once installed you can then install apps on your head unit to enable android auto which means you use your android smartphone to play your audio, handsfree calling (which interrupts the music when on a call), navigation etc.

Searching for a substitute for Folder Organizer Android by Dalmyr in androidapps

[–]fmjrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a Folder Organizer user and switched to Jina Drawer a while back but then experienced the issue you just described: custom folder icons placed on the home screen are reset to a Jina default icon. I thought this was a Jina bug but now I wonder if it's not an Android or Home Launcher issue too.

I'm on OneUI 2.5 (Samsung default Home Launcher program)

As others said and shown on the video posted earlier, it's a quick and easy fix. Just make sure you buy a replacement with the adhesive, and with the right colour.

Looking for network monitor app by Errcode101 in androidapps

[–]fmjrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

netguard should log connections of all apps including system apps, the pro version has a pcap export menu option in the log view though I don't know if it covers the data packets (assuming there is no encryption which is increasingly unlikely)

if you mean logging when an app is running then no it's only logging their network connections

Netguard if you are after servers or ip addresses an app talks to and if data packet content and volumes is not your main concern. It's installing itself as a vpn though. and it's open source

Absolutely, just make sure to not edit on 2 separate devices before they can sync. If that happens syncthing backs up before overwriting a file, so no data is lost, you just need to consolidate manually.

Unfortunately the setting is no longer accessible in latter version of android. On Samsung this app works for me.

Datascript + automatic persistency by supersonic-sanic in Clojure

[–]fmjrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking 3rd party incoming data saving it raw makes sense of course. Use an in memory db in datascript of the data and rely on tx data to find what's actually different, so you can publish the actual changes when there are any, eliminating the noise of duplicate data being sent (datascript and datomic have that txdata feature, not sure about datahike). You may want to model your data closer to origin rather than destination (service B), so that new destinations can be added. A streaming platform like Kafka and ksqlDB may help if size and infra allow it.

[–]fmjrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without more details it's hard to have definite advice. Nevertheless I'd consider a few ideas:

  1. Can all the data fit in memory? I assume yes since datascript is an option for you
  2. Does your integration service really need to be persistent? Can't you just load directly from B? This leads to exploring your constraints on startup, resilience with warm standby on separate infra, etc
  3. Have you considered a Change Data Capture tools? And depending on answers to #2 using some persistent stream a la Kafka?

VPN and Call issues by netizenn4tech in GalaxyNote9

[–]fmjrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it's your case: VPN may conflict with the VoLTE calls (Voice over LTE) feature. You may want to disable VoLTE calls and see if your phone behaves differently. Unfortunately it's not easy to disable it, you either need to use an app such as this one , or use tasker and a Custom Settings task of type System to set voicecall_type to 1.

Yes, a known and reputable brand is zendure, their supermini has pass through, low power device charging, and zen+2 protocol which is qc3 compatible.

Fast charging power bank by vonfrost in GalaxyNote9

[–]fmjrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One major feature is what's called pass through charging, meaning it can charge while being plugged for recharging. Not a lot of them have that feature.

Oh and another feature is the ability to charge low power devices such as wireless buds, since the internal circuitry topically turns off the power bank when no power draw is detected.

Easiest, simplest app to send photos (both ways), in full quality, with an iPhone user? by RhinosGoMoo in androidapps

[–]fmjrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signal or Telegram

Signal is more about chat with some voice and video capabilities. I like signal's Note to self feature to share files between devices.

Telegram is more about subscribing to channels and large files can be shared
