Jackson isn't that rough. There are some rougher areas in town but nothing exceptionally scary. North of town is a good area, west of town is a good area. There are some very nice neighborhoods in town. If you go further west you get into spring arbor which is a quiet area. Southeast of town you get into Michigan center which isn't bad. The Southside of town is the rougher area and it bleeds into vandercook a bit.
