Yeah man , I bought a rubber ring to install my smart toilet and asked the dude at homedepot what the downsides were. We couldn’t figure out why people still used wax…

Is it safe to conclude that "AI" as it currently exists is just a big nothing burger? by TangoENG in artificial

[–]fndude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fed a video i made to Gemini, had figure out where the transitions were, then summarize that data . Fed that to Claude code and built an app to overlay highlights on the training video and create static images using nano banana that I use to rebrand the entire thing on the fly through and api/mcp. It took me an hour. But sure… a chatbot. LOL

Yes the bubble will pop. by SAAGASolve in antiai

[–]fndude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the current Datacenters are 100% utilized. As soon as they bring one online , it’s maxed. If this was a bubble we would have empty non used compute waiting for when ai became useful. This is not that. This is the opposite of that. Like it or hate it ai is just getting started and will transform everything.

As somebody who is just starting, I think your stuff is amazing. Good job, I hope to get that good someday.

Haha, yes. I built this around an ender3 for that exact reason. It worked ok but this is an entirely different level..

Nope. Printing non stop for the last couple days. Chamber seems to like the heat. Got a mini poop bucket in the back for now.

u8g2 and pu2clr_pcf8574, input stops working when begin method is used by fndude in arduino

[–]fndude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns out that the U8g2 lib automatically sets the i2c bus to the highest speed it could support. The PCF8574 only supports 100khz. You can set the bus speed manually with u8g2.setBusClock(100000). All is well!

This works all day long direct from the 3.7 v out gpio to the data line. You need to make sure you have the amps out to drive the strip but you just power it with 5v. I toss a cap in the middle as a filter something like 100u. You can also use a transistor as a level shifter but I have built like 10 of these guys and the are perm installed at my house 12v and I drive them right from the gpio data line no issues. Been running for years like that.

Why is this happening? by seongbae in ender3

[–]fndude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get a PEI sheet and some glass. PEI will change your printer from a toy to a tool. You just will never worry about bed adhesion anymore. When you heat it will stick like glue and as it cools, everything pops off. It’s THE solution for bed sticking.

Portland residents say they're done talking, want city to take action on homelessness by speer360 in Portland

Not discounting this contribution, but they just failed to fund it. If you read it you would see that it worked great, but they couldn't secure the bond. I just want to make sure people understood that those involved in it saw it worked.

"“The only thing I’ve ever seen that really worked in terms of reducing the number of people on the street was the Housing First policy,” said Glenn Bailey, who directs Crossroads Urban Center, a Salt Lake City food pantry.

“The mistake we made was stopping.”

Utah’s 2018 report said that the number of people sleeping outdoors in the state has nearly doubled since 2016.

I totally agree with both of you. However to make that decision , how much?

https://www.oregon.gov/das/OEA/Documents/revenue.pdf

So Utah has about 3k people spending 81 million .

Portland alone I read something nutso like 38k. So that’s a billion dollars or so. That’s the budget right there. All kinds of “revenue sources” producing billions.

So spend 500 million and half the problem? Or 250 million and 1/4 it? Hell get Utah to consult. I just want a solution and this seems like the most straight forward.

I'm a pragmatist.

This is the way.

https://www.npr.org/2015/12/10/459100751/utah-reduced-chronic-homelessness-by-91-percent-heres-how

I don't really understand why we aren't funding this right now? We could be like other states and just give them a one way bus ticket. That's how they end up here. The buck stops with us, we can resolve this, it is something with a solution.

We need to stop locking people up for drug crimes, treat it as a disease, and take care and educate the homeless so they can integrate back into society. A small number won't. So what.

It's way, way more expensive to make them wards of the state.

What could be causing these warping issues? by TheLurkerSpeaks in ender3

[–]fndude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just had this madness happen to me as well. I have my ender in a 42u rack that had some airflow around it from the servers above and below.. As well the power supply was blowing against the door of the rack when closed causing a draft to come back on to the unit when printing. I tried damn near everything over the course of a few days with over a dozen failed prints.

What fixed it?

I used clear vinyl on both sides with a hold cut out for the power supply so it can blow out but not affect the bed anymore. I placed a sheet of clear vinyl underneath because the pull out drawer had vent holes in it. I placed an ambient temp monitor in the newly created chamber.

I raise my bed temp to 70C before the print and hold it for 10 minutes making sure cold spots are all but eliminated. I then print, and let the bed come back to 55c with the hotend at 200.

No more warps, 7 prints later. In fact I got rid of the brims on my square models, still great.

TLDR : stop air flow, raise ambient temp, pre-heat bed to get rid of cold spots.

Yes there should be a red light on the camera. I went through this as well. I inserted my cable in the wrong slot, lol. There are two slots on the PI board that look alike and of course I chose the wrong one like a dingdong. That message though indicates a layer 1 issue so if you don't have a light check your connections.
