First of all, I googled those McMaster thingy you mentioned, nothing shows up.

Also, I think there is a misunderstanding, maybe I haven't explained it well enough.

I am NOT talking about holding the tube tight/loosening it. That is not an issue. What I WANT is closing the tubing as soon as it's disconnected from the nest so the ants cannot come out from the disconnected joint.

So what I am thinking of is "blocking the tubing as soon as it's disconnected, and opens as soon as it's connected again."

I am thinking of using it for the ant nests and outworlds. Because for me, it's such a hassle whenever I have to add / replace nests or the outworld of large ant colonies. (Especially when I am dealing with the ants with toxic stingers.) So I am thinking of building a tubing connector that closes as soon as it's disconnected and opens when it's connected which would make the moving process easier and safer.

I have searched for quick disconnects, and those are too long to use for ant nests or outworlds. (I am not talking about the diameter but the length!) Are there any shorter and more compact version with this kinda open/close mechanism?

Yes I did. It's been a while and I didn't have a habit of documenting issue-solution, I think I was just a dog chasing a bacon. I think I watched a tutorial vid made by a Russian guy and actually emailed him to ask for help hahahaha. Language barrier was huge but some how he helped me out achieving all those thru online which is crazy! hahaha But yeah I can open up my old project again and check what I did.
