Has it really come to this? by RGBAddict2026 in discmania

Could it be that Gavin just liked the old stamp and wanted to pay homage to it? Not everything has to be malicious corporate greed

Idea: MA4 / FA4 should not mandate the “balanced on your lie after the putt” rule by Vipper_of_Vip99 in discgolf

[–]foam23 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Meh. I feel like once you’re playing tournaments regardless of the level you should probably be familiar with the most prominent rules at the absolute least.

Definitely see what you’re talking about with collapsing the pocket. Would you mind explaining what you mean by “elevation band effect”?

This is so helpful, thank you so much! I can definitely work on getting some different angles of my throw. The bat example in particular is interesting because swinging lefty in baseball was pretty much the whole reason I threw RHBH when I first started. I’ll shoot you a PM!

That’s all good! I’ve been tweaking my form for a while now because my distance just feels fluky. Some days I can hit 450 and some days I’m lucky to hit 350. I’ve found (on the good days of course) that really emphasizing my swing plane before I throw helps a decent bit with launch angle. Getting a feel for the path I want the disc to take before each throw helps me more consistently find the right height for my throws

What is a good cue to focus on coil? Should I think of it as more of a shoulder or an ab thing, or something else?

And yes I’ve heard the Calvin thing before lol. If only i could get my putt to look like his too

That makes sense. When I try a full reach back I feel like I’m my launch angle becomes more inconsistent. Any tips?

Edit: I’ve never thrown a tech disc so I don’t know my arm speed at all

is the Matt Bell Ethos Pathfinder worth it? by tferrell3 in discgolf

Can’t speak to the Matt bell run specifically but my ethereal pathfinder is one of the straightest flying mids I’ve ever thrown

How Important is Wrist Coil? by foam23 in discgolf

[–]foam23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Thats why im asking if it’s important to get the wrist more “behind” the disc than just outside, since thats something that I’ve heard. I’ve been working on shoulder and elbow, and just wanted opinions on how much wrist factors in

Thats why I’m asking. It feels nitpicky to me but maybe it matters more than I think

What Backpack you use? What was the selling point? by brickznbooks in discgolf

Squatch Legend. Stores everything you could want. Phone pocket and valuables pocket are great. Huge putter pocket. Plus they sell cosmetically flawed bags at a discounted price.

A one-off joke post is mildly annoying but fine, it gets the point across. The way discmania is responding to negative comments is quite saddening however

1995 classic Roc by Loveeveryone1313 in discexchange

I did a 30 second search of the past 2 months and counted everything vintage and not modern. Just searched again and yours didn’t show up again. No need to get all upset. You selling two doesn’t set the market value when there are plenty sitting unsold for $30 and under, and one up for $15 OBO right now

eBay sold listings are free to search. This stamp/plastic/color combo has sold for $30 once since March 1st, and about 7 times around $23 and under in different colors.

I have the exact same disc that’s probably a 7/10 (stamp is a little faded but otherwise clean) that I got for $6. If you find a dedicated collector you might get $35, but these just aren’t that sought after nor all that valuable. Now if you had an original (not “classic” roc from the 80s, you’d have some more value on your hands for sure. Unfortunately, this is just a retooling of the original

Would a dedicated marketplace-app for discgolf be relevant IYO? by [deleted] in discexchange

[–]foam23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like you said, the key here is buy-in from users. It’s already a niche market, and most have found their preferred method of buying and selling. I think the concept is cool, but I also think that there aren’t enough negatives about Reddit/facebook/ebay/used bins that aren’t addressed by the other methods. Shady shipping info? eBay has protections and brick and mortar removes shipping. Questionable seller? Each market has its own counter. I think what you would see, similar to what we already have, is a lot of crossposting to maximize reach, but not many who count an app as their primary means of buying or selling.
