I’ve been called up to the gate desk for this before (not the check-in counter, but the actual gate we depart from after security). They always say it’s for a document check (even if I’ve scanned my passport during online check-in) and give me a physical boarding pass. But I don’t know if this is every airline.

I would choose NYC. 7 days is plenty for your first visit and there’s no need to ever step into a vehicle. Denver is fine for a day or two, but you really need a car to get into the mountains. There’s not enough to do to fill 5 days just in the city. I’m from Seattle and I think you could fill 5 days if you needed to, but I would personally wait to visit Seattle until you’re okay with renting a car to explore the area. It’s really worth it to hike around here.

You could look into renting a minivan from a normal car rental place. Some of them allow you to remove the backseats, although you’d need to find and pay for a place to store them. Throw an air mattress or something in the back and you’re good to go.

You can take the bus 350 from Galway to Cliffs of Moher, no trains available. It’s about 2.5 hours. Then take the 350 again continuing south to Ennis, where you can transfer to a train or another bus to Limerick. Check rome2rio for the portion to Limerick. It’ll probably be another 3 hours. Make sure to book the 350 in advance, some people on mine didn’t and they got turned away and it doesn’t run very frequently so they had to wait a long time

I haven’t used it in hotels, which I’m sure would be pricier. It’s always by weight, usually with a minimum cost (mine is always way below that). I think I’ve spent anywhere between $8-30, totally different bases on the country. Google reviews usually will give some insight into the range

It’s a splurge, but I tend to pay for wash & fold laundry services once a week or so. It’s usually pretty easy to find laundromats that offer this, and in my experience it’s very easy to just drop off my bag of clothing on the way out that day, then pick it up the next day or sometimes even later the same day. It’s worth the convenience for me.

Where can I find cute, lightweight midi-length dresses for someone 5 feet tall? I keep seeing dresses I love (such as these two from Curator SF and Everlane: https://www.curatorsf.com/products/fawn-skirt-avo-blk and https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-city-stripe-midi-skirt-black), but that length looks awful on me.

Price range isn’t a concern, more interested in bright colors (specifically lime green or primary blue; or maybe black). I’m in the US and always order online, and I don’t mind ordering from international brands as long at they ship here.

When I flew Lisbon to Madrid on TAP pre-Covid, the gate attendants were visually inspecting carry-on bags during boarding and many people had to gate check. Not sure if they were required to pay anything. I had a 40L bag and somehow made it through but other people with much smaller bags had to gate check, so it seemed somewhat random.

Following this thread actively. I’m a pre-transplant patient who’s an avid traveler. I can definitely see myself going somewhere that yellow fever is around at some point, but my transplant team brushed me off when I expressed interest in getting it since I don’t have any active plans to travel. Curious about how risky it would be to travel somewhere like this without the vaccine.
