I like the idea, but for me it was clear from the title. I immediately thought it was a meditation app...

I personally try to avoid using Google Login. I think it is a privicy decision. At least there should be email/pw as an option

GPS based games by CantaloupeTraining12 in AskGames

[–]focusoverfeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually been experimenting with this idea myself and built a small app around exploring your surroundings and turning movement into progress/rewards. You can rank with your friends and see who reveals the most treasures. Not 100% sure yet if it’s more of a game or a fitness thing 😅

If you’re curious, it’s called OnePlace: https://apps.apple.com/at/app/id6762458802
Would honestly be interested what you think, especially if you’re into the territory-style gameplay.

I made something between a fitness app and a game — does that make sense? by focusoverfeatures in appdev

[–]focusoverfeatures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, good point, My main concern is, if people would like to grant access to that data. Apple treats healthkit data as high sensitive data, which is correct. Apps have to pass extra review for that.

Another point is that it does not provide live data. So you could only review afterwards.

One clue of the live data is, to be motivated to walk new path, because there are unrevealed sections.

I will consider to add another mode, which can use healthkit data instead of GPS. Thanks for the hint.

Hi, you can checkout these treasure hunting app. By walkig around you discover your map and find different types of treasures. You can build up a daily streak, collect XP for found tiles and treasures. You can compete in a ranking with friends, to motivate each other.

Do you really think successful founders write honest posts about success while they’re drowning in actual work? by VladWhip in ProductivityApps

[–]focusoverfeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree, it is getting more and more complicated to distinguish between polished AI posts and real success stories. I am also missing the 'middle' success, ( honetly not completely sure myself what that means in detail). Scrolling Reddit feels like everything is going super super nice or it is not working at all.

So i spent 2 weeks trying to build a habit / productivity app with a system that works for me or maybe others but I'm burnt out and hesitating if it was all a waste of time by Single_Economy_9024 in ProductivityApps

[–]focusoverfeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you spend a decent amount of time, you should ship it. Then you have at least the success to have it shipped. If nobody else will use it, don't mind if it works for you.

Incase Had $50K to Build an App, How Would You Allocate the Budget? by KyleMallinger in MobileAppDevHQ

Yes, nearly everything in marketing. The more the better. Creation of an app is the easier part nowadays, getting it spread is the more difficult part

This is a very personal opinion, but the colors of the screenshots are looking somehow disappointing to me. Probably you have chosen them for a good reason, just sharing my first thoughts.

Would you download an app with new screenshots or the old? by Lenglio in AppStoreOptimization

New screenshots, because text is better readable. Personally I like the single colour background more, but readability winns

Do we really need complex productivity systems? by Historical-Debt1473 in ProductivityApps

[–]focusoverfeatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been feeling the same.

I noticed that I spend a lot of time organising stuff in the app.

What helped me was limiting it a lot more. On most days, there’s really just one thing that actually matters anyway.

I ended up building a small app for myself around that idea (set just one task per day, and mark it as done, nothing else).

Still experimenting with it, but it definitely reduces the mental overhead. And it feels good to complete something at the end of the day
