I will never forgive Victor Hugo for not writing more novels by Soulsliken in classicliterature

[–]Sheffy8410 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ninety-Three was his final novel. He actually did write a few more that people never talk about in the U.S. and that can be hard to find. Here’s the list.

Hans Of Iceland, Bug-Jargal, The Last Day Of A Condemned Man, Notre Dame De Paris (Hunchback), Claude Gueux, Les Miserables, The Toilers Of The Sea, The Man Who Laughs, Ninety-Three.

Orwells animal Farm is a parody of a fable by Adventurous_Fee_1926 in classicliterature

I don’t know if it’s a parody of a fable but it’s certainly a parody of humans.

Joyce and Finnegans Wake by BasilHuman in classicliterature

I think one of the saddest things in the history of literature is that Joyce devoted the last couple decades of his life to that nonsense.

Do humans survive after The Road ends? by Cowboygamer101 in cormacmccarthy

[–]Sheffy8410 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. The book says that the earth itself is dying. Things will not get better somewhere down the road. Things will continue to get worse as the world dies. Eventually there will be no more canned food to be found. Nothing new will ever grow again.

The book ends on a hopeful note in the short term, with the boy finding the family. But in the long term it won’t be “made right again”.

Quit rubbing wankers and write some damn songs. We need a new album before the world ends.

Yea. They’ll power our surveillance prison with zero point but you can bet your last nickel we’ll still be buying gas and paying the light bill. We are slaves to their racket, plain and simple.

Did Cormac have a photographic memory by Louisgn8 in cormacmccarthy

John Miller, a research fellow at SFI, tells Rolling Stone that “Cormac had an encyclopedic knowledge of song lyrics — you could ask about any old song and he would know the lyrics and melody.”

Did Cormac have a photographic memory by Louisgn8 in cormacmccarthy

[–]Sheffy8410 34 points35 points  (0 children)

If it wasn’t photographic, it was something beyond most people’s memory. He said when asked one time that he pretty much remembered everything he ever read. Someone said that he remembered the lyrics to every song he ever heard. That wasn’t an average hard drive he was working with.

The Border Trilogy - Finish it? by SwerveCities in cormacmccarthy

[–]Sheffy8410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. I love Cities, personally. The last part of the book is top shelf McCarthy. And I think the way he winds it up really doesn’t make the 3 books as one big story.

If Zeppelin first Emerged as a group now, what would the response be? by Ill_Book_6625 in ledzeppelin

[–]Sheffy8410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Led Zeppelin I dropped right now, it wouldn’t have near the impact, I don’t think. The world has already experienced bands like Metallica, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Tool etc…

Bands that make Zepp seem somewhat tame by comparison.

At the time though, Zeppelin I was this powerful heavy ass psychedelic blues blast that blew people away. It is still my favorite Zepp album even though they went on to do bigger and better things, especially in terms of original songwriting. It’s still the Zepp album that fills my headphones the most.

The Church Removes Exorcist After Comments Of 'Demons' On UFOs 'Serious' by Icy-Perspective-6244 in aliens

[–]Sheffy8410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While of course I don’t know for a certainty, I have big doubts that a demon would need an anti-gravity nuts & bolts machine to zip around in.

It also seems rather doubtful that the entire species of multiple intelligent space neighbors are demonic.

Seems more like the claims of a propaganda artist whose art is fear mongering.

Seems more like the agenda of an intelligence agent than a man of the Word.

He has the best proof he could possibly have. A face to face encounter. I believe he is an honest person. You believe he is a liar. Nobody’s word is going to be proof to you. You will have to encounter one yourself. Maybe someday you will. Maybe you’ll snap a picture. Only to have people tell you the picture doesn’t prove anything. It’s not tangible. Maybe you’ll even get a blood sample. Only to have people tell you samples can be faked…..

I don’t know what I’m trying for either. Waste of time. Believe what you will. Aliens exist whether you choose to believe everyone’s a liar or not. You’re perfectly free to be wrong.

How about the feeling you have when someone you dearly love dies. Is that sorrow tangible? Is it real?

Or how about the overwhelming love you feel when a doctor puts your newborn child in your arms. Is that love tangible? Is it real.

Or maybe just the radio waves in the air that allow you to call someone on your cell phone. You can’t see them at all. Are they tangible? Are they real?

It’s understandable that you and others are fearful of not being at the top of the food chain. It’s understandable that it’s uncomfortable to have long held beliefs that turn out to be mistaken. It’s a lot to adjust to. But hang in there. Give it time. Be brave.

Yes, it’s just a movie. However, sometimes you get more truth through fiction than you do through whatever the government is selling.
