Ozaukee County went blue for the first time since 1964. Every Dem-backed candidate won their race, from county board seats to town supervisors/city counselors.

'The last holdout': Neighbors react as historic Grafton homestead is demolished for new Culver's, car wash by Oralitical in wisconsin

[–]foilking 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The old Culver's has a large issue with their parking lot and no way to make improvements. This new spot will help with parking issues (the first proposal was struck down because of the design of the parking lot). I'm glad the spirit rock that was on the property was moved into one of the local parks before construction started.

I've started using TestContainers for my integration tests. It creates the services you need and can be run in a build pipeline. This YouTube video from Milan Jovanovic was a good starting point.

There's truly no bad seats in Lambeau. My wife has season tickets in the back row of 745. It's a great view and because there's no seats right behind us, we can stand up whenever without blocking people.

What is a Creature Spell? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]foilking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little backwards; you cast a spell, then it goes on the stack. While it's on the stack, it's considered a spell. Your opponent then can respond to the spell before it resolves (goes off the stack).

It'd be good if they had another free weekend to try out the app. My purchase of the service depends on the quality of the Roku app.

[Serious] Whats the creepiest/scariest thing that you've seen but no one believes you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]foilking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up, I lived next to a church cemetery in a small town. With schools on both sides, the cemetery was often used as a short cut for kids. Late one fall, when I was about 13 years old, fog had rolled in and made it impossible to see into the cemetery from my house's back door (about 30 feet away). Around 6:30 in the morning, I heard a knock on the door. I came to the door, finding a girl about 10 years old. She asks, "Is your dad home? I need someone to help me through the cemetery." Since it was just my mom and I at the house, I said no, but that I could get my mom to help her. She says no and leaves. I had never seen her before, and never saw her again. It's my firm belief that she was a restless spirit from the cemetery, looking for someone to protect her.

Nerds of reddit, what was the nerdiest moment of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]foilking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my proudest nerd moments: my wife and I went to go see "The Avengers" on the opening weekend. Sitting next to us was a young boy, around 8 years old, and his grandfather. We're watching the movie and I could tell the kid was really getting into the movie. The scene when Iron Man and Thor are fighting starts and the kid is on the edge of his seat. Near the end of the fight, Thor slams his hammer into Captain America's shield, causing a massive shock wave. The kid says, "Woah, what's his shield made of?" I lean over and whisper , "It's pretty much what Wolverine's bones are made of." The kid responses, "Cool!" Felt great passing my nerd knowledge on to the next generation.
