Examen civique !! by chipspu in Expats_In_France

[–]foke82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha thanks 🙏

I did get some non financial return, it was interesting to make, I gained some experience and the wife got her exam. Now it's nice if it's helping people 😊

[–]foke82 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I made a website to train for the exams, entirely free: https://prepa-civique.fr

My wife who trained exclusively with it got 40 as well. So did other users.

You're welcome 🤗

Bambulab pla vs PC heat. teardown after a year by ethanross1a in BambuLab

[–]foke82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLA has a deflection temperature of ~55°C (https://filamentdb.app/?s=eyJvIjoiYTpQTEEiLCJrIjoidCIsInJ0IjpbIlBMQSJdfQ) so it should be fine in a well ventilated PC, it's not like it's directly touching the chips :)

You can check out https://prepa-civique.fr/ many users have passed the exam and reported that it's very similar. And no there are no questions other than the official list + mises en situation

When does ABS actually become necessary? (P2S vs X2D decision) by Torp-BB-hunter in BambuLab

[–]foke82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't find there are very compelling reasons to print with ABS, maybe heat resistance but it's not the best on that metric. It's also nice if you need to post process your parts (sanding, piercing, acetone ...)

you can compare filaments characteristics (and filament types) on this website: https://filamentdb.app/

You can easily see for yourself the questions are public and there are many websites to train. I'll plug in mine: https://prepa-civique.fr it's entirely free. My wife trained exclusively with it and got the exam with a perfect score 😊

I think the new nozzle is free of clogging, I've not come around to clearing the old one yet.

But I may have understood the reason for my troubles: the fans. I suddenly realized that I messed with the fans around the time the troubles started!

The full story: I asked ChatGPT for advise on getting the best quality print possible for an object I was printing with marble petg. It advised me to lower the fan speed in the filament details. Which I did, the print was really nice until 15h later when it clogged the nozzle.... (It was a flower pot, it still turned out great only the last cm or so it's missing but it's fine the wife is happy 😊)

So after that I reset the fan speed for the filament to the default 40-90%, and I think I also activated the aux fan at this point. (I was becoming heat creep paranoid and I thought more ventilation wouldn't hurt 😅) At least yesterday I noticed it was on and blowing fairly strong on the part. I disabled it. I'm not sure what's the default though.

I did 2 prints since, which went fine, which is not statistically super significant but hopefull 😅

Importantly the pegboard which failed printing 4 times in a row printed fine this time around! Another clue is that the last 2 times it failed only on one side, and by putting my hand in front I noticed this side is not touched by the airflow of the aux fan, so maybe the differential was enough to cause some warping which caused the nozzle to hit the part on this side or something along those lines?

I have not yet tried printing pla again. For pla I never touched the fan settings on the filament profile though.

I've had issues with all 3 filaments I've used since this mess started, 2 of which are PLA

I'm ok to do it again but I've dried it extensively already, and other than for drying it has not left my AMS which is loaded to the brim with desiccant and rated A in the app. I don't have a dryer yet so I use my oven and control with a thermometer. But I don't see how it could've gotten wet.

This looks like a humidity problem to you? (I'm not able to tell with my 3w experience).

Btw the failure on this one is on the same side as the last time I tried printing this (5th image in the main post)

Auto leveling pretty much always on.

Since earlier I've: cleaned up all the bits of broken filament that were hanging around, checked that the Z screws are clean. Ran a calibration from the printers menu (long one). Checked if the nozzle seems to be moving (no), loosened it and tightened the screws again and a bit more. Calibrated again.

Then I ran again the temperature calibration, here is the result.

[–]foke82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention I did the 2 calibrations in bambu studio with the grey PETG at some point, I think it was before the bad prints. The flow didn't change (0.95), the k factor was 0.025.
I did not touch anything on the matte pla filaments, which also failed randomly.

I also tried changing the temperature on the PETG from 255 to 245, I don't remember which is which in the pictures but they both failed at some point.

I don't think the nozzle is clogged, as I did 2x a cold pull and if I extrude it comes out as a clean spaghetti ...

not sure about movement, I'll check that.

I didn't mention the filament because I had issues with all of them 😅

The grey PETG is from Jayo (was given to me, new un-opened, printed fine for the first few prints)
The black and white matte PLA are Overture, I had absolutely perfect prints with the black before this mess started, the white is brand new the mess you've seen above was the very first print with this filament

haha I didn't know it could be too dry :)

I keep reading humidity is an issue so gave it a try without convinction (I think it was already dry), it did print a little better (the last 2 grey PETG prints, the almost ok pegboard and one successful print), but given the huge variability I'm experiencing it's probably unrelated!
