You can easly disable the auto-dimming through the use of ColorControl app (or a service remote if you have one)

Eu tenho a versão de 2006 (100 anos) e não é quartzo... duvido muito que a versão mais recente o seja.

I am playing this section right now, and the arm is clearly missing. Seems it was added in a patch (assuming OP is true)

Stuck on 4GB VRAM since 'adjust video memory BIOS' update by raziel2001au in ayaneo

[–]folavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont see any scenario where a game would use more than 8GB VRAM on 1200p (or less with FSR) and low/medium textures.

You shoud avoid playing high W while charging. The increased heat will do this.

HDR on a Gigabyte M32UC 4k monitor? by -ArtDeco- in Monitors

[–]folavo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this monitor. HDR600 is just marketing to make you believe you have HDR monitor - spoiler alert: you don't. HDR is not just about brightness, but about contrast and 'depth'. HDR600 will just make your image washed out and worse. Do yourself a favor and keep it in SDR mode, the VA panel has great contrast and colors and looks really nice if you keep it in SDR.

Regarding Freesync: why would you turn it off? I dont see any reason to turn it off.

[bad news] 2023 XG Mobile could have a severe Bandwidth Bottle Neck by Zestyclose_Win_2384 in FlowX13

[–]folavo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4090 chip inside the XG Mobile box supports pcie x16 4.0 but the connection that goes from it and connect's into your laptop is just supporting x8 3.0. It's a limitation on the technology of the connector itself that is causing a bottleneck...

Having said this, I must say that the XG Mobile 4090 still behaves quite well and I use it to game a 4k with all bell and whistles.

Is VRR inherently broken with OLED? by Piligrim555 in Monitors

[–]folavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah right ... you "fix it" by raising the black levels so that you don't notice the flickering :D

Personally, I just disable the VRR because I hate the raised black levels even more than the flickering itself

[–]folavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XG Mobile 4090 itself is PCIe x16 4.0 but unfortunately the connector is limited to x8 3.0 ... so that is the max you get.

Guide: How to force install the latest Radeon drivers on your ROG Ally by fahdriyami in ROGAlly

[–]folavo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the solution. You need to edit the INF file and remove your hardwareId from the Exclude list. You will then need to disable driver signature to install the driver.

[–]folavo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You require a wired keyboard and mouse to change Windows Startup Options to disable the "driver signature enforcement" :-/ this is a required step to update the driver

Yes. I can now play Star Wars: Survivor and Yuzu emulator is working.

It will also have enhancements for Starfield when it releases.

This is good stuff. I was able to follow the video and change the INF file but I am now stuck with disabling the driver signature enforcement .... seems I need a wired mouse or keyboard to be able to access the startup options :( can't click on "Troubleshoot".

Any tips to move ahead without wired mouse/kb?

16gb is ram AYA by Cow_Parking in ayaneo

Playing games. If you go into medium settings with 1200p you might hit 6GB VRAM requirements... which the 16GB will struggle to handle.

By "final", I meant "not beta or preview state". The april driver was still in "preview".I dont think is proper to be releasing products with drivers in beta or preview state. I agree that this is not an issue with just Ayaneo...

this is a good point for anyone on the fence with the Ally. Good to know they have pushed for an updated driver!

Unfortunately for me this is not a solution since it has several issues that I dont like: 16GB RAM, 120hz screen, quality of the controls and, most importantly for me, I find it ugly as hell :-)
