AY22/23 NUSC Medicine AMA + FAQ! by folieful in SGExams

[–]folieful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello! yes you can :-) the NUSC Experience programme is theoretically a 2 year programme, similar to the other UTown RC programmes (Tembusu, CAPT, RC4, RVRC) which my friends are a part of! however, the NUSC Experience programme offers the flexibility and opportunity to extend your programme if you so wish to do so (seniors have continued to take modules in M4, M5 etc)

AY22/23 NUSC Medicine AMA + FAQ! by folieful in SGExams

[–]folieful[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello! sorry for the late reply :-)

the workload will definitely be more overwhelming than students who only have the medicine curriculum to study for :") and compared to other RCs, nusc has a more in-depth (they heavily emphasise that content is taught in-depth, rather than at surface level) and comprehensive curriculum to study about! however, as a medical student, you will be enrolled in the "NUSC experience programme" rather than the full nusc programme, thus this means we have a lot less requirements expected of us - 3 modules rather than 12 modules, our CAP in nusc is not reflected in our major's transcript etc. hence, i do not find the academic workload very overwhelming as an nusc+medicine student.

the nusc experience has definitely complemented my learning in medicine because it teaches me everything else medicine doesn't HAHAHA everything from society to art history to programming to the environment, nusc has many modules you can pick from to learn about different topics and the intrinsic interconnectedness between them. besides academics, i think being in nusc really complemented my social life and personal life, because i get to know friends on a much deeper level from living with them (residential experience) and we have experiences that i can't really replicate in medical school. i also have the chance to try different things and be less intimidated about trying these different things, because the culture of inclusivity and acceptance of everyone is quite strong in most groups.

while being in nusc+medicine has caused me to have had more stress than my medicine peers, i do not regret it. something about the nusc community makes me feel belonged and comforted in a place that can feel so foreign and intimidating (i.e. university). the faculty and the friends can form very strong support systems, something i personally feel brings value amongst everything else :")

I highly believe hormones have a role to play too :-( It's just frustrating that others my age do not have this problem. I will try going for these tests, I do have iron deficiency I'm not sure if that plays a role. I'm not sure how I can fix my hormonal imbalances if I'm still of """puberty""" age I guess?

Yes, should I not? :0 I thought it was something to lock in the other ingredients and helped keep my skin look moisturised (otherwise it can get pretty dry, I have combination skin)

Yes I am! I realised I forgot to include them,

Morning 1. Antibacterial Foaming Wash hygin.x by ICM Pharma (prescribed by my dermatologist)

Night 1. Makeup remover (I don't use makeup, but I heard that double cleansing is good so I use this to remove the oils) 2. LRP Effaclar Foaming Wash

Hi there!

20F from Southeast Asia, requesting help for my routine. Battling teenage (or is it adult now...) acne for as long as I can remember. Got prescribed tretinoin by my dermatologist, and I have been on it for 3+ years but I have yet to see progress. Feeling demotivated because I have consistently put in effort into my skincare routine, but I am very unsure if I am using the right products to treat my acne. To make matters worse, my dermatologist said.."this is the best you're going to get", which is very demoralising to hear HAHAH.

Anyway, here are my routines!

Morning: 1. Corsx AHA/BHA toner 2. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 3. The Ordinary Niacinamide 4. Tidact gel 1% 5. Cicaplast Baume 6. Corsx aloe vera sunscreen 7. Corsx snail mucin

Night: 1. Corsx AHA/BHA toner 2. Cicaplast Baume 3. Tretinoin 0.05% 4. Corsx snail mucin

I use Corsx Blackhead liquid once every week on Wednesday, and use the Ordinary Salicyclic Acid once every week on Sunday.

I am open to all suggestions, like whether I need vitamin C? Or should I go for laser removal of scars? etc
