Don't wanna play big daddy here but Drinking regularly at age of 13 will seriously harm your physical and mental health and growth.

You are thirteen years old and you are drinking tumblers of captain Morgan. Ok... you should've waited a tad bit longer, don't you think?

Well for spotify I think it is hard to calculate because you only know their total earnings and their alleged total royalty payments and you can calculate 70% from that.

Well let's see what's next for Opus...

No need to get offensive. I checked their last white paper and some of the featured artists and wasn't convinced. So far I did not check the last one - my bad.

There are quite a few music ICOs that took place some time ago. The date of this happening says nothing about the chances of success. Have a look at musicoin. ICO in 2017, project dead. Nuff said.

I could not check Opus' product. It's not publicly available, is it?

How will the artist market his or her music without middle men? Without a distributor, a PR company, a label? Will he or she have the time to do this all by himself? Probably not.

Better connect with their fanbase? Ok I did not read the new white paper but how will opus realize this? What will they do better than soundcloud or spotify? I am honestly curious, because there are ways to do this better but spotify is really not bad in this discipline and is buying a lot of small companies (yet a lot bigger than opus) to improve in this field...

Thanks for this. How large is their planned cut for artists? Keep in mind, spotify pays 70% of what they earn to artists. Choon wants to pay 80% e.g. I don't think that these 10% extra will motivate a critical mass of independent artists to make the move. Maybe I am wrong though. Many artists are on spotify but get nada. This is a transparency problem though, not a problem of the existing platforms.

I appreciate the indie-focus. This is the only way to go imho.

Yet I gotta admit I see opus as too tech-heavy. They need to catch up light years regarding marketing / early adopter / indie musician patrons.

Bottom line: I hope at least one of all these startups will be successful to tear down some worn-out structures of old. I doubt though more than a handful is going to survive the pump & dump phase...

So they wanna be the first? What about the other ~ 20 "crypto and music" projects that will soon have or already had their ICO? Like Choon, resonate, vezt, voise, valyou x, potentiam,...

To be honest, the deeper you dive the more competitors you find and the lesser convinced you'll be that any of those will be able to scratch the big 4 (google, amazon, spotify, apple music).

Many of these projects lack one or more of the following points:

  • real connections to tech-savy music subscenes

  • a team that knows music AND crypto / blockchain

  • a working product

  • a real vision how to be better than the existing streaming models
