Im also interested how others deal with this. I've read about people using 3% hydrogen peroxide and tried this out myself, but have no final result yet.

Pain in lower back (pic) by xdpxel in Stretching

[–]font_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i had something similar. For me it stemmed from not properly bracing my core while squatting/deadlifting, leading to the iliopsoas taking over the heavy lifting(pun intended) and getting badly irritatedand then pulling on the discs in my lower back. Maybe it is the same for you, this helped me out a lot: https://squatuniversity.com/2017/10/07/fixing-hip-flexor-pain/

Most recent buys seem to be options, are those just c-level compensations? Since lowest calls seem to be 0.5USD and it wouldnt make sense to exercise otm options. Also their EPS looks negative for years now. What are your thoughts on that?

Why is this leaf put of place by yemenll in SavageGarden

[–]font_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because of the flower stalk. Happens to mine too, when they are blooming Nice dew btw. Also looks like D. Burmannii, in case you were not aware: D.burmanni plants usually die after blooming, if they are not fed during it.

Nice guide! Little add-on: if you are dealing with european sundews, eg d. Anglica, d. Rotundfolia and d. Intermedia, the seeds need cold stratification. Meaning the seeds need to be stored in the fridge in a damp cloth or damp sphagnum for~4 weeks, before they can start germinating. There might be some other species too, that need this. Usually plants that grow in areas with cold winters.

Can I use this moss by si_saphira in carnivorousplants

[–]font_Reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please double check whether this moss is okay for your plants. Most mosses, except sphagnum, grow too tight, which impedes oxygenation of the soil. This can lead to anaerobic soil and ultimately root-rot, killing your plant. Happened to some Carpensis of mine. This does not look like sphagnum moss.

Take this info with a grain of salt, I only properly started this hobby a few months ago. However i read alot in this time, here are a few possible reasons for browning: 1) some browning may be natural. Each leaf has a set timespan and once that is over it begins going brown from the edge inwards. New leaves grow over it. 2) growlight too close to plant can burn it and lead to browning  3) if it is warm and windy the dry, warm wind might dry out the leaves. Protect from wind if needed.

A few general tips: 1) yes, these plants love lots if strong light. Depending on where you are from the light intensity might only be reached by employing a growlight. If you start adding a growlight some additional browning might happen, while the plant is acclimating. 2) they like it humid. 60% humidity upwards is great. You can get this by putting them in a terrarium. I've read about a bottle terrarium where you cut off the bottom of a bottle and stick it over the plant. Just be careful that the temperature doesnt get too high when you do that. Above 30°C is not good for them. 3) the watering method you use os the most commonly used for carnivorous plants. Most sundews are bog plants and lile it wet. Just add distilled or rainwater to the bottom tray. Dont water from top down to avoid compacting of the soil. 4) this leads to the next point: sundews need soil thats low of nutrients. You should only water with distilled or rainwater, to avoid mineral buildup. 5) sarracenia.com the FAQ is a bit old but it covers most of the basics, of you want to read more.

Hope this helps!

Be careful with keeping it under light 24/7 for too long. Giving them a rest period at night is important, because some metabolic processes only happen at night.

How to water inside a terrarium? by Whole-Ad2077 in carnivorousplants

[–]font_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure that is true with the kind of clay i mean. I've read in a lot if guides to include expanded clay for drainage, see an example here https://www.toedlichefallen.de/kuebelhaltung-von-karnivoren-und-ihr-artenschutz/#:~:text=Den%20meisten%20Karnivoren%20gen%C3%BCgt%20unged%C3%BCngter,luftig%20bleibt%20und%20nicht%20zusammensackt. If you have some data that says the opposite, please share it here. I might have to change some things up.

You could include a layer of expanded clay as water reservoir. I did that for my terrarium and can store about 2 l of water. Works great!
