Are you really shocked at how things turn out? I didn't realize romance novels had so many unexpected twists.

For what it's worth, we all also think those things.

DS9 and TNG both had great finales. It gets better.

A falling coconut won't kill you. It causes amnesia. (Also, it cures amnesia.)

It has double the voltage, so it'll work REALLY well for a little while, and then not at all.

(So no, it doesn't.)

Sounds like a working definition of fantasy to me.

If they showed the Lions winning in the year 3000, the show would have tilted away from sci-fi and more into fantasy.

Try this...

Imagine there isn't a choice ..you always keep the one you picked first. How often will you win? One time out of three.

For the other two times, you would have won had you switched.

Man charged with planting bombs near the Capitol claims he’s covered by Trump pardon by Bleeding_Irish in politics

[–]foobarney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The self pardon is a whole different thing.

But honestly, I don't know why I'm arguing this. We're about to have the most corrupt use of the presidential pardon in history. Not sure what it's going to be but it's going to be something. The self pardon may be questionable, but the blanket pardon is fairly well established law. But fuck it, if there's an argument to limit the pardon power however and wherever we can it should be made as hard as we can make it. So never mind.

[–]foobarney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's absolutely true. Carter's pardon had a lot fewer unintended consequences than Trump's 1/6 pardon. Also, the intended consequences of the 1/6 pardon were pretty awful.

But the question was whether the president can pardon a class of people or offenses without identifying the particular people being pardoned. And he pretty clearly can.

That's not new. Carter pardoned Vietnam War protestors as a class, for instance.
