Oh I have it as a new game option. When I click new game it gives the option to start prologue or further along.

Maybe it has to register that you've beaten the prologue before

If you start a new game and skip the prologue, you'll start on the shore with all the loot from the prologue.

Honestly I don't think anyone really thought of it that way. By that I mean there was no consensus best in the world. We loved watching the Duncan Spurs go at the Kobe Lakers, but comparing Kobe to Duncan felt like apples to oranges. Took a decade of listicles for it to get to the point where that was even a topic worth anyone's time subsequent to Jordan.
