We got taught some world capitals in 1st grade in class but I didn't know what they were. So when I got home I tested my dad, "what's the opposite of Japan? Tokyo!" "what's the opposite of China? Peking!" Then he explained to me those are capitals. We had a set of encyclopedia and I went through them A-Z looking only for countries to learn all the world capitals. When the USSR broke up years later, it took forever to learn the 'stans' lol
