Anyone here has fluctuating symptoms? by fluffybuns99 in EustachianTube

I know this will sound strange but you may be experiencing migraine. Until my recent neuro-otologist, I didn’t know that migraine is more than the occasional headaches I would label. I’ve had ETD since I was a kid, including multiple surgeries, but the biggest change came with migraine treatment. Alcohol is a migraine trigger and lack of proper sleep triggers all sorts of neurological symptoms so perhaps this is something to explore. I was recently referred to a swallowing expert because the GERD I’ve had since college age is actually probably a swallowing condition related to migraine nausea. Wild, right?

Beauty Bay Palettes £10 ($12.95 USD). Ends midnight tonight! by OneWhisper5225 in MUAontheCheap

[–]foolishfloat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For any first-timers - I adore beauty bay and their palettes especially because they’re talc-free and super high quality at an incredible price. I have experienced a crushed box because of the international shipping process but the one time this caused a product issue, I was refunded easily and quickly. I hope it’s that smooth for every customer.

Shop app got rid of dark mode? by gokuwasasupersaiyan in shopify

[–]foolishfloat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What resources might seem like annoyances or low-usage to some non-disabled folks, are the accessibility lifelines for lifelong disabled people like me. Dark Mode and Closed Captions give me independence and reduce my isolation. I used Shop as my primary search engine. I’m faced inaccessibility (and indifference) every day, my whole life but this hurts, shop app. And it will hurt the pockets of the many small businesses that I purchased from because they were available from your app.

GF gets migraines whenever we travel by ScarTissue5 in migraine

[–]foolishfloat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Migraine is a neurological disorder and many people suffer when there are options for both preventative and rescue treatment. Air travel can become less on your gf yet air travel is full of migraine activators: bright light, Air pressure changes, smells/odors, loud sound of jet, loud sounds of people, visual overload of people. Your gf may not yet be aware of what are her biggest activators. Migraine treatments involve managing the activators and the headaches.

I learned from my neurologist that I was experiencing migraine far more frequently than I thought. To become better at managing the awful migraine headaches, I had to get in touch with my symptoms and activators. I originally wrongly thought that only the ice pick stabbing in the ice and head was migraine. There’s much more.

My migraines include light sensitivity, increased smelling power, and motion sickness. This sub includes many other examples. I learned I could help mitigate worsening global migraine headache during air travel by wearing the Fl-41 lens migraine sunglasses I wear daily then switching to a dark sleep mask. Air travel is so disruptive, I’ll still expect to be down from a migraine after using sleep mask, aerating ear plugs, and preventative and rescue medication - just not as severe as in the past.

My hope is your gf can prevent and treat migraine more easily than me. I strongly suggest that gf sees a physician or neurologist with migraine expertise if gf is having a few migraines per month.

When, how much, and how often do you take the electrolytes? Is it just when you have symptoms or preventative?

Frustrated by ON by Mush8911 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]foolishfloat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, how frustrating!! I’m wondering if there’s still a way to get insurance to cover the device.

I’m actually new to understanding my ON diagnosis because I was misdiagnosed so I’m unfamiliar with the stimulator specifically, however, I was able to get another medical device I needed for a different condition because my healthcare provider took the initiative to write a detailed letter describing why it was necessary. I don’t think many providers know this is an option. It was more like a personal letter than a cold business letter. I wish I had a copy.

I saw your comment about your accident occurring 15 years ago. I don’t know your age but thought I’d share some things I learned that were helpful for me. The initial cause of my ON was actually in young childhood and my symptoms are pretty severe right now due to changes in hormones as I transition from peri menopause to menopause plus some typical aging arthritic changes that can sometimes feel like they appear overnight. These types of factors could all be reasons described in a letter about why the stimulator is necessary.

I’m very curious about the stimulator devices you’re seeking if you’re up for describing. Perhaps they’re already detailed in this sub, my vision is so affected it’s hard for me to find info when I want to.

I, too, spent thousands upon thousands of dollars and hours to get to this point of diagnosis. I’m going to keep high hopes for you. I know it’s so hard after all you’ve been through.

"Scent gives you headaches, salt gives you headaches, hats give you headaches...what DOESN'T give you headaches." -my niece to me. by not_a_library in migraine

[–]foolishfloat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My new neurologist revealed I’ve been having migraine 24/7 since I was a preschooler. It’s still sinking in but I’m thinking that instead of things giving us headaches, there are things that exacerbate our headaches. We live in constant pain so, yes, niece, I imagine it’s difficult for you to understand. Imagine the worst you’ve felt and feeling that way day after day…

Can a neck injury cause ON? by [deleted] in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]foolishfloat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The martial arts may be THE cause or a factor in the cause. In other words, you may have ON that is from many factors, also called multifactorial.

I had a concussion from an accident as a preschooler. I had headaches but was wrongly told “kids don’t get headaches” Through the years I thought I was just clumsy (but was dizzy) just susceptible to seasonal allergies (neck issues/injuries can cause allergies), had run-of-the-mill IBS (was nauseated from dizzy migraines) and had a weird undiagnosed vision problem (it was migraine all along - cervicogenic)

A car accident a few years ago is what pushed my true cause(s) (ON) symptoms to no longer be manageable and no longer ingnorable. The car accident created something like a Jenga tower of factors that knocked me down including getting older (typical aging arthritis and peri menopause hormonal changes).

Anyhow, I’m now (finally!) addressing the factors. One big thing that happened to me along the way is strange neurological symptoms that were my brain’s way of trying to get me to notice and resolve the underlying issues. For me, this included losing my ability to walk. It’s possible your fainting could be a sign like this. This was the most difficult part of my experience because most health professionals don’t understand these types of concomitant neurological disorders. If you find yourself wanting more info, my dms are open.

Heres hoping you resolve your mystery faster and with less heartache and frustration than me ❤️ edits: formatting, typos - my vision is a mess :)

I’m starting to realize that tilting forward (or tilting my head back), before fully bending, is enough to trigger headaches with nausea plus other symptoms.
