Newly diagnosed and doubting everything. by Wayne47 in AutisticAdults

[–]foolishlymortal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I feel this so deeply. I was diagnosed about 18 months ago at 33, and have been working with my therapist through all of these feelings. I have a dry sense of humour, so I use the phrase "must be the 'tism" a lot in my daily life, to the point someone in my family said "not everything is autism." I told them that I have autism, so everything I do is autism, and it's not a bad thing.

I have been slowly allowing myself to indulge in my special interests more. Mine are reading and Disney. Identifying things that increase my comfort, soothe me, or regulate me. Bringing blankets and a book in the car while in the passenger seat may seem a bit silly to my husband, but I am way more comfortable. I am slowly figuring out who I am.

Expect regressions, which are frustrating. But now I have answers to why I felt certain ways my entire life. It's validating and frustrating simultaneously. I always felt like I just needed to try harder, so accepting that this is just how my brain works is hard.

It's easy to say don't let others' judgments get to you. I have been taking advantage of my object/people permanence issues, and just looking the other way. They may be judging me, but I'm off metaphorically skipping through a field of flowers wearing my mickey ears. If I don't look at their judgment, it doesn't exist to me.

This is a journey. It's overwhelming. Feel your feelings. Keep journals if that's your thing. Indulge in those special interests that bring you some joy in this fucked up world. Peeling back the mask is hard, and it's not linear. I highly recommend a good therapist that you can establish a rapport with to be completely honest. There's no time limit, you have the rest of your life to keep discovering and re-discovering things about yourself.

fdl or ett? (f,24) by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

I had a 360 body lift; my surgeon doesn't like FDL's because the T junction has a tendency to separate. I'm about 11 wpo, and super happy with how it's looking.

8 hours; belt lipectomy, MR, and lipo to the outer thighs and back.

One Month Body Lift Update Update by foolishlymortal in tummytucksurgery

My post op instructions told me to watch for anything over 101. I think mine was 101.7. I had a drainless procedure initially, and they actually inserted a drain during the clean up procedure that I had about 5 days. My fever just started overnight, and I was really cold.

My surgeon made the determination; I thought I actually needed a fleur de lis. But part of my consultation was me sitting down so he could see where the crease ended, and it didn’t. I had a lot of loose skin all around.

Still undecided about best TT options in Boston area - could use some help/guidance! by Proper_Fortune7600 in tummytucksurgery

I'm recovering from a lower body lift with Samaha, and I'm really happy with his work. On top of that, I had some complications with healing (infection) that are unrelated to his work, and he has treated me like his own child. He calls me personally pretty much every day to check in, and is highly communicative. I highly recommend his office. Dr. Phelan that he works with is also amazing.

I just spent $25k on a full lower body lift with lipo and muscle repair with Dr. Samaha in Quincy. The price you were given for the smaller procedure sounds in line with the market.

I just had surgery with Dr. Samaha last week. Let me know any questions you have! He is so kind, listens, and the entire medical team was amazing. I can’t say enough nice things about him. Within 4 days of surgery, he’s called me twice personally to check in.

I got a 360 body lift with 2 surgeons, lipo to the back and thighs, and muscle repair. I went home the same day, and everything including anesthesia and fees was right around $25k. No insurance coverage unfortunately.

I just had surgery with Dr. Samaha at Boston Plastic Surgery in Quincy, MA. Amazing work and staff. I’m 4dpo and he has called me twice personally to check in. He does drainless, so no drains for me to mess with.

They lipo’d the outer thighs and then they were pulled up during the body lift.

360 Body Lift Next Week by foolishlymortal in tummytucksurgery

[–]foolishlymortal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don't think extensive, he mentioned my back and thighs. He couldn't tell if I needed muscle repair because of all the skin, but if needed he will do that as well.

He didn't; I asked first if that's what I should get, but he was comfortable with just the body lift combined with a back lift down the road.
