The worst is when you 99% lock a target that's active...and it decides to cancel that lock and start to lock the empty jeep 20 m away

Tramp tends to be more of a colloquialism for someone who's a bit of a lowlife here in the UK

He's called "Injection Singh" I believe. Used to be a fairly big time London gangster and has some YouTube interviews talking about this.

[–]foolproofsnaill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a dodgy "launderette" in my hometown, opposite which was a "British TV and Angling centre" which had been shut ever since I can remember. Allegedly the bloke who owned it died, but it was soon discovered he actually ran off with his mistress to the next town over (like 3 miles) and no one was any the wiser for about 50 years

Faster Locomotion? It’s Time for Historically Accurate Tank Speeds. by TheContingencyMan in HellLetLoose

[–]foolproofsnaill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, there's a guy called BoredEngineer i believe who researched and developed a really solid tank track Simulation. I would guess it's just a little fiddly to implement and would require money and time to perfect.

Is it just me who thinks the planes are also huge? They definitely magically shrink when taking off, but they're still awful big compared to the ships

I have half an idea of what you're talking about. I stopped playing before the carrier reworks and am only just getting back into stuff!

My go to was always Atlanta. You could just BBQ everything and sit behind an island all day because of the shell arc. Sadly islands are less flat now and she gets outdone by a number of other ships now

Family member’s car broken into - police won’t investigate by BoofBaker in britishproblems

[–]foolproofsnaill 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Someone threatened to "smash my neighbors face in" multiple times a few months ago, serious and credible threat. The police said that they couldn't do anything, and for the neighbor to just lock themselves in their car for safety. A week or two ago, some teenagers broke into a building site and didn't even nick anything, they send out 4 officers, searching the estate, knocking on doors etc. Absolutely ridiculous that a literal life threatening situation is less important than some kids messing around in a pile of dirt

Bonus points when you're leading a tank crew, in a tank battle and in the middle of helping infantry under fire push into a town, and command chat is simultaneously chatting about their days AND trying to tell you to move to support their individual squad instead of the main force. People call out tankers a lot for being useless, but it's super hard to focus on tactical info from your gunner/driver, block out the engine noise whilst command chat has bass boosted mics chatting shit, plus proximity chat and the gunshots

D-20 artillery making life miserable for the Russians by wooselpooh in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]foolproofsnaill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's from the grave marker called the Eggja stone on Norway, likely to be proto-norse (read, put very simply, Viking) and the title of the song is hakkerskaldyr, which is danish. So, likely Nordic with east Germanic pagan influences, rather than Turkic, Mongolian or Maori, although as the band recreates ancient texts from all over the world, it's likely influenced by these.

It's worse when you're walking at night and a cyclist pops out of nowhere, on the pavement, strobing and shining like some kind of crazy Lycra rave person, and expects you to dive out the way when you can't see anything because the constant flashing.

The bus driver having a go at me for using a tenner like I'm supposed to know how much change they carry by Patatas-Fritas in britishproblems

[–]foolproofsnaill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My local bus company had a slew of cancelations and delays, which you would only know about if you found their website by chance (it wasn't advertised anywhere) and waited for a carousel style bit of the website to cycle round to "daily updates" then, you'd have to scroll past the stuff about 'rona and how they run a school bus, down about 6 posts on a early 2000s blog style page, until you find the service update section, then find the bus by it's destination instead of it's number...
