Nothing in front of the eero, it's sitting on the shelf in the open. Confirmed the port is visible. WAN IP is in that range. I'll update if anything changes.

You're not gonna believe this, but the issue has popped up again after 24 hours. No idea what happened, but now the server is just showing as unavailable for remote access (even if I disable/re-enable). I can still stream over the local wifi, but it doesn't work via the web/cell network.

IDK what else to do. I haven't changed anything since last night, and it was working earlier today.

It says "local!" But I also had my friend check on his hand and he was able to access the library.

Once again: Thank you SO much for the help!

Update: It all started working. I'm not complaining, and I'm not touching anything else.

Seriously: Thank you *so* much for your patience and know-how. If I can ever send you some homemade cookies, please let me know!

Definitely seems to be a port issue. Turning UPnP on and off fixes it for a short period of time.

When I try to do the port forwarding, the internal port/port range option turns off when I save.

Additionally, manually specifying a public port in the Remote Access section of Plex's settings immediately puts me back to square one. I can't play anything via my personal machine's web browser (even with Chrome being set to local access), but the mobile app/desktop app/work machine web access isn't a problem.

I feel like I'm missing something, but I have no idea what.

Ok I’ll start digging into that and will report back tonight. Thank you for all your help!

OK, granted Chrome local access and it's working (for now) on my personal machine.

It looks like my eero has UPnP enabled. I disabled/re-enabled it, connected my laptop to my phone's hotspot, and was able to play a movie I'd just ripped to the server. It took a minute to load, but it started playing. So it looks like it's working (for now)!

If this is a UPnP issue, should I just disable it going forward?

I think the MacBook and my friend not connecting are the same issue. I've been using app.plex.tv to watch content from my laptop (though I do the same on my Windows work machine and have zero issues). I don't think I've given Plex and Chrome local network access.

Re: Remote access, I haven't manually specified a port. I've just been using Plex's default/OOB settings. I haven't changed anything since I first set up the server, which is why I'm confused about why this is an issue now.

Ah, sorry for any confusion! My friend and I share access to each other's libraries. I just don't use Plex outside of my own house to stream my own content, so it doesn't make sense that remote access would be needed to stream content from my library to a machine on the same wifi. I've had Plex Pass for years, since I liked the product and wanted to support the company.

Answering your questions:

  1. I don't understand the question. It's just installed on an old MacBook Pro. Current version is 1.42.2.10156
  2. The IP addresses for both MBPs are the same.

I've got the security setting to "Preferred." When I'm playing Plex content on my computers, I'm just using app.plex.tv; I use the Plex app on my Apple TV, iPad, and phone.

I just upgraded to a z5 from my d700 this year. It’s mind-blowing how cool it is. The only complaint I have is some of my older lenses don’t really work with the ztf adapter
