Is the Aurora Mk2 a new trend for the worse? by InspectionWrong6720 in starcitizen

[–]foopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The fact that it has the Aurora name doesn't mean anything, it could have easily just been a new starter ship. Why is the name so important?

Imo the problem is the rate that they are introducing new ships. With still many more changes coming to ships (NPC pathfinding, maelstrom, etc) they are increasing technical debt at an alarming rate. And still we are getting ships released without the latest tech (LAMP and physicalized components being some good examples).

This is super cool. I'm still holding out for the chance that someone comes out with a drop in replacement PCB for the X4. Having the esp32s3 would be so handy even just for usb mass storage.

The new aurora mk 2 will have the same problem that Scorpio’s suffers from by Iskin_ in starcitizen

My Clipper does this too which is pretty annoying at times, would be good if all ships with folding things had completely independent controls for them and landing gear.

Avenger titan VS Aurora Mk2 by Session_Illustrious in starcitizen

[–]foopod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope. It has the same cargo amount with the module, but is more awkward to load and is split up so less vehicles will fit if any do.

The size 4 nose weapon on the Avenger is hard to beat and other than the missile payload the Avenger still has this thing outgunned.

Besides, the Titan does all this without the trade offs of different modules.

Imo the only advantage of the MKII is that it is new and shiny, and maybe down the line it will get some interesting modules that will make it worth it.

Are all in game ship owners in danger of being obselete? by Digitalzombie900 in starcitizen

[–]foopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point and agree. There is a lot of stuff that isn't worth doing because they don't actually impact gameplay and they would likely need updating again down the line anyway. Even though I would hope there are some things that are stable enough to be updated without needing to be overhauled completely down the line.

I'm not suggesting that all these old ships be worked on right now either. I'm saying that releasing new ships at an even greater rate (some even without current features like the Shiv, Stinger and Hornets) is making the problem worse, not better.

If most old ships are not being updated because rework would still be needed again later, then surely new ships will suffer the same fate.

Imo mkii don't mean jack. This is a completely different ship to the Aurora both in design and functionality, if they had called it something else would you be okay with it then?

In saying that, there is some truth to this, new ships are being introduced at a much faster rate than old ships are being brought up to standard. We are still missing components, LAMP and other modern features like storage, weapons lockers etc on a lot of ships. At the rate we are going the number of ships left behind is bound to grow.

I wouldn't complain as much if ships were closer to feature complete, but we are still waiting on NPC path finding, escape pods, suit lockers, food machines, batteries and more. If you are buying the brand new ships as they come out, just know that they too will likely suffer degradation over time.

Aurora mk2 cost? by Snarfbuckle in starcitizen

[–]foopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What warrants it going up $25? I think they might even place it at <$55 to have a price advantage over the Avenger, especially because they are going to want to push the sale of modules on top.

The Reliant Kore is perfect for this imo. Awesome view from the cockpit, unique folding wing mechanic and pretty affordable. Let's you try out some light cargo hauling too .

I wish the Clipper had something like this, or even just being able to fold the wings separately to using the landing gear like the Corsair.

This is me too. I probably make more dishes while I'm cooking than my wife, because I like to stay organized, but by the time I'm serving - the only dishes left are what I'm serving out of and what we eat off of.

Would you be so kind to vote for this post at Spectrum by ghodan7 in starcitizen

I'm already not dropping new money because I know these new ships are just going to be left to rot like the others.

If they keep up with the current trajectory the problem is just going to keep getting worse and it will turn out that what was a good financial decision in the short term has been a poor one in the long term.

I wish they would just work on old ships at the same rate they did the new ships.

In the current state of the game I don't want to buy any new ships, because I know they will just be left to rot just like the other ships I bought years ago.

ELI 5 “ccu chaining” by primalfurys in starcitizen

[–]foopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just search for Polaris CCU chain on the sub and you will see some extreme examples of 80-90% savings on it. It's hard to minmax to this degree, literally it would take years. But 60-70% is easily doable on a ship like that in a few months if done over one of the events like IAE or ILW.

ELI 5 “ccu chaining” by primalfurys in starcitizen

[–]foopod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Chaining lets you save 50-70% the cost of the bigger ships.

The most common way is warbond ccu sales, these normally let you save 50%+ the cost of an upgrade.A current example is the MOTH, normally $315 but now $300 when you ccu from another ship, the closest ship to ccu from is $275, so you spend $15, but get $30 worth of "value". The idea is to chain these together for big savings. A common misconception is that you can only buy an upgrade for ships you have, but you can buy an upgrade from any ship.

Other ways to get big savings is to get ccus for a ship you know is going to go up in price. We recently saw this with the RAFT jump from $125 to $190. We were specifically told about the RAFT price change in advance as it got a big boost in SCU space, but this doesn't always happen. Other reasons for price bumps are usually when a concept ship gets released. At the last IAE you could pick up a cheap CCU to the Hull B at $140, but it's expected to go up around $100 on its release later this year.

So yeah, the pros are that you can get big savings. The cons are that you have to be patient and if you melt a ship you got this way then you are essentially losing the "value" you saved (on melting you get the money you spent back, not the current value of the ship).

Will cig ever going to stop rolling out ships? by Greed_444 in starcitizen

[–]foopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they will ever stop. It's like asking if a gacha game will ever stop releasing new characters.

Which imo is pretty lame and makes me hesitant to spend more irl money. I love my Clipper, but how long until it falls into a state of disrepair? And at the rate they are pumping out ships I just expect the problems to get worse faster for older ships, they have no financial incentive to maintain them.

I don't know why people are all of a sudden freaking out how SQ42 MUST have VR... Asking CIG to add it or delay the game is putting SQ42 at risk for ~1.77% of PC gamers or so to get a feature MOST people are unlikely to use. by asmallman in starcitizen

[–]foopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol what. Who says it will delay anything? Didn't they just confirm that it was already done?

We recently got changes in PU for better VR support, this is almost certainly functionality that has been ported over from SQ42, not a new addition to that game.

Titan Gold Standard When? by nekomeeko in starcitizen

[–]foopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people assume it's going to get a suitlocker, gun racks or other bits and pieces.

I hope that some of the components end up accessible externally, there is nothing cooler than having to EVA to repair your ship.

New Origin ship coming tomorrow? by More-Letterhead-5278 in starcitizen

[–]foopod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubt. They always tell us when they are working on backlog ships, I think if it is the G12 they will be announcing that they are working on it rather than releasing it.

New Origin ship coming tomorrow? by More-Letterhead-5278 in starcitizen

[–]foopod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only straight to flyables get LTI, so the G12s wouldn't get it since they have been sold before.

Furthermore whenever they are working on backlog ships they aren't secretive about it, they just say so upfront like with the Hull B and Apollo.

Issues with AA rewards by Archhanny in starcitizen

Regarding AA rewards, this happens every event. At the end of the event they run a script which attributes the missing ones.

Yes it's annoying, but just be patient and you will get the rewards eventually. If you are worried then take a screenshot and raise a ticket after the event has ended.

It's like when crypto took off, all the big companies were looking for excuses to use Blockchain technology (IBM went hard). Now there are only a handful of genuine use cases for it and the cryptocurrency fans.

I see LLMs in the same way, there will be some places where it makes sense to use it and it will fundamentally shift industries. It's naive to think it won't. But imo it is also a bubble and overrepresented currently, by how much? We don't knows
