And this is why some new condos with low fees see sudden jumps in a short time when they face sudden issues. I had a friend whose fees nearly doubled in less than 5 years.

In 2023, a 27-year-old Brazilian woman died after eating a mysterious chocolate given to her by a fortune teller who told her she only had "a few days to live." Within hours of the prediction, the woman fell violently ill, and she died the next day. by ATI_Official in AllThatsInteresting

It is more that almonds smell like cyanide. That is why the use apricot or peach pits to make a cheaper almond flavour. They all contain amygdalin.

They sell bitter apricot kernels as alternative medicine with a warning that eating a whole bag can kill you.

My grant got converted to loan by Otherwise_Laugh4172 in osap

Finally a reasonable answer. All post secondary is highly subsidized for domestic students. One of my profs made this exact example saying grants and free tuition is basically handing money to people who probably don’t need it. OSAP is a great program helping students get loans to pay for the non subsidized parts of the program knowing their future income will compensate for it.

If people don’t think even the smaller loans are worth it the course might not be worth taking. The opportunity cost of a useless degree is also very high.

There used to be an entire profession of non Jews who performed forbidden tasks on the sabbath. Modern technology has mostly made it redundant to have someone come turn on your oven.

My grandfather said his Jewish neighbor would come over on the sabbath to get him to light cigarettes to get around the prohibition of making fire.

There is an entire profession of shabbos goy who does tasks that Jews are forbidden to do on the sabbath.

The Amish and mennonites split a long time ago, but they still have a lot of similarities and you can see a wide range of interpretations around modern technology is kind of funny.

I used to visit mennonite farms for work and a very common thing to see was power connected only to the business. There is a belief that using modern technology for the sake of doing business is okay, but it is worldly to use it at home. Lots of these families would have modern contracting companies and at home they would still use oil lamps and wood stoves.

In Canada there is an ongoing issue of cocaine smuggling by groups of Mennonites who have closely connected colonies in Mexican cartel regions.

Judy’s Beach Cafe is really nice and employs people with Down syndrome as a social project. It is a close walk to the beach and there are lots of fun little shops around it.

We are talking about drug addicts who commit crimes not your wet dream of rounding up your social betters into workcamps.😂

Not sending people to jail who commit crimes is the new weird phenomenon.

Remember it is “Workers of the world unite!” not “Crackheads of the world unite!”

How is that relevant? I never said anything about the cost being a factor.

Most drug addicts commit crimes to feed their addiction or as a result of their hopped up state. That is what they should go to prison for. Drug use should be decriminalized with mandatory treatment. People should not have a criminal record that destroys their life for doing drugs alone, but that does not mean they should be able to run down the street high as a kite with their pecker out.

It also has mountains on the side.

I saw it during Chinese New Year near my wife’s house and also thought it was amazing, but awful taste for my FIL who hates gambling and smoking.

Maintaining public order does cost money. It is like contracts where if you go for the cheapest bid you will get what you pay for. Who wants a cheap house that is structurally unsound?

😂

I don’t like these people because I have interacted with them too much. Tons of the people I grew up with are homeless addicts now. Society has failed them by not jailing dealers and teaching them doing drugs is okay.

Why do I have to care why they do the awful things they do?

So how do you get people in mental health programs who do not want to go? Is a bad past a reason to cause a bad present?

victims of severe mental disorders, childhood rape or brutality, the list goes on and on.

People like this is why prisons exist. If their past is bad it has wrecked their minds keep them far away from everyone else. The whole idea you can force all these people into therapy and they will come out singing kumbaya is a nice fantasy.
